Game of the Year ???
I'm pretty critical of most games. BUT this game has surpassed everything I expected.
It is just bloody awesome! BRAVO!!! to the creators.
What do you think?

AC Origins is essentially Far Cry Primal, but with an AC theme.

lol speak for yourself. This for me is the best AC since ac2, infact i enjoy it more because it actually has a combat system, even if its not great its better than spam X.
Loved the setting, has cool world with lots of hidden stuff to find, the lite rpg gives it abit more replability, and its not just a collection game filled with markers on your map.

I guess if you enjoyed all those things though u might not like the direction this game took, but hey i enjoyed this game alot.Good start to a fresh reboot to the series.

This is definetly the best in the series & GOTY.
Its a GOTY for me too !

One of the better games I've played this year.

I will say it does get a bit repetitive but all open worlds do, and the combat can be buggy at times...

Still, hours passed by for me, normally I can't really play a game for very long. I'm almost at 100% for this game, some points of interest and a few side quests left then finish up main story.

Witchers creed in egypt has been excellent.

Thanks for all the support, everyone! The team is ecstatic to hear that some of you are thoroughly enjoying Assassin's Creed Origins.

I'm leaning towards GOTY, too.

That you have trouble handling other people's opinions says something about yourself, rather than me.

Black Flag's Edward animations:

Origins' Bayek animations:

https://youtu.be/q_CzzFU5Wh0

And if the game design elements of both Black Flag and Origins are compared, Origins is categorically a far less sophisticated game. The worst part, though, is its writing, which isn't even serviceable:

*Spoiler*

In one cutscene, Bayek is mostly buried in the sand, with just his head and arm above ground. Instead of using his arm to dig himself out, which he could do with ease, he instead magically calls his horse and eagle, and his eagle gives the horse a command to run past Bayek, and Bayek uses his arm to grab the horse reins and be pulled out of the sand. What would actually happen is that Bayek's arm would be dislocated or broken, if he was able to hold on to the rein as it wipped past him. There's no chance that that he would hold on to the rein and his body would be pulled out of the sand.

There's also no chance that he'd be buried with his arm parallel with the sand, so that he could raise it out of the sand. And if his arms was free of the sand, he could easily dig himself completely out - no need to rely on absurd writing to have him magically pulled out by his horse.

And that's only one example. The quest to quest writing in Origins is so bad that it tells me Ubisoft didn't choose this design for Origins out of preferred choice, but because they had no writing talent on hand and had no choice but to make a basic sandbox and populate it with the most basic and serviceable writing possible - though, like I said, the writing in Origins isn't even serviceable. It's like a elementary school kid wrote it.

And because Origins really has nothing to say, it relies on the amateur trope of forcing characters to just appear bad, by something they say, to make the player feel OK for attacking them. There's otherwise no real reason, no justification, no sense of purpose or meaning to doing what the quests ask a player to do.

One excellent example I mentioned in another thread:

A farmer needs help on his farm to meet tax payments, but his son is young and is unreliable.

Bayek sympathizes with the farmer, and says that his son is too young to be spending his time working on the farm, and says he'll take care of the situation.

A quest objective is listed on the screen telling the player to find and kill the tax collector.

Like, what is that? It's retarded, and the game is basically telling the player to be an evil psychopath.

And this is Cleopatra's introduction scene:

Cleopatra: "Where is my opium pipe?"
Cleopatra: [stands up and gestures to make an announcement]
Cleopatra: "I will sleep with anyone" [makes dramatic gesture with her arms]
Cleopatra: "As long as they agree to be executed in the morning!"
Cleopatra: [laughs]

WTF? Why did she even say that?

I guess that sounded cool or impressive to some 8 year old, somewhere. Origins seems like it was written by an 8 year-old.

Next, she'll go around asking people "How many bong hits can you take?", so that she can tell them she can do more.

The AC series has never before been mindless, at all, but has been about meaning, philosophy, and purpose. ACs have always had rich stories, and the stories have always been about discovering greater things and deep knowledge - but not in Origins. Origins is the most basic and brainless of games.
dude u can write what ever u want i dont read your book of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ :D origins is way more realistic in running then black flag and in all elemts it is better and looks better so shut up
Viper Nov 5, 2017 @ 4:36pm
It will be in there ..
But I think Divine DIvinity Original SIn 2 and Persona 5 have it beat.

Its good, Shadow of War was far better. It seems to me they took more than a few shortcuts (only two silent blade kill animations) and frankly even on Hard the game is super easy. So easy to stealth kill or arrow kill everything in an area. Also every little outpost is the exact same as the others. So it gets a bit repetetive.

Still a good game, but hardly GOTY.

Dude, just pis$ off. You don't want to read because you're not intelligent enough to read.

You're just showing yourself to be the type of brainless person that brainless games are targeting. Congratulations.

Origins is way beneath Black Flag in all ways. You should try playing Black Flag so that you might be able to even have an opinion that is based in something other than yourself being an ignorant as$ :)

Hes right. And i have seen you trolling the forum for a couple of days .Do you even own this game. I don't think so. Thing is people are going to listen to a person who has constructive and non aggressive opinion over some one like you whos posts are just trolling and insulting. Nobody is taking you seriously.

well disregarding your videos because two different MC's will of course be animated differently.... I mean unless you rather have clones like CoD the rest of this is opinion. Personally I found the revenge angle engaging and emotionally appealing... I'd also like to know what you mean by "sophisticated" because I have a sneaky feeling you're missing some big points in the story for personal reasons

I think this is a solid contender for GOTY, it reminds me a lot of Witcher 3 and while not quite as good as that game, it does a lot of things right and better than most of the games it will be competing against. The only other game I've played this year to be as worthy would be Divinity: Original Sin 2.
