i7 8700K slower than i5 3570K (solved)
I upgraded my PC and my performance unexpectedly dropped.
I run the game at max settings with Low AA 2560x1440 144Hz G-Sync monitor.

I had a i5 3570k 16GB DDR3 and my frame score was 5588 at launch and with patch 1.03 my score improved to 6234

Now I have a i7 8700K 16GB DDR4 and my scores are 4717, 5167 and 4808

Same specs as my current pc and what i'm looking at upgrading to, damn that is a shame, shows how badly made this game was.

i have just upgraded to an i7 8700k and performance is more stable and also my score is higher than with my previous cpu(i5 4690k).
How much is your average cpu usage btw?
I average 60fps at 4k resolution with some drops to 50s when i am at Alexandria.

lmao...

Sadly new hardware doesn't always mean better performance.. Why? because optimized like sh11t.

I have i5 3570k also and I score 6600-6900 in benchmark before the patch, after the patch it's the same. The patch didn't do anyhting.

Your gpu and cpu both seem to be lagging, 16 and 25 ms... my god. Something isn't right, should be like 10 or so. My ms times are 15 and 18 for reference on i5 3570k and 1060 gtx.

It's probably this game, but to make sure did you test your new cpu in general? Overclock?

I5 vs I7. I7s really do not have any advantage at all when your talking about high CPU utilization. Most games do not use Hyper Threading. Not sure if Origins does or not. But those 4 extra cores are not real cores on the chip. They are logical cores which just means the I7 can handle more threads. You are still limited to how much data those 4 phsical cores on an I7 can process. So an I7 really does not have any advantage in this case over an I5. I think most people don't understand the difference beween 8 physical cores and 4 physical cores and 4 logical cores. The difference between an I5 4790k and a I7 4790k is about 3%. I7s having a big advatage is a myth.

That's true BUT the i7 8700K has 6 real cores and the game also takes advantage of Hyper Threading.

I don't know about that but what i do know is that with the i7 8700k the cpu load is averaging at 50% comparing to my i5 4690k which was hitting 100%.

That sounds really weird, and here I am, planning to upgrade from my i7 4770k @ 4.3ghz to a new motherboard/RAM/CPU (8700k) at the end of the month.

The 8700K is 6 cores 12 threads, so there are 2 additional physical cores.

It sounds like you didn't do a fresh install of Windows after putting in your new parts. Whenever changing the Mobo/CPU/RAM you should always do a fresh install to avoid driver and chipset conflicts. Also make sure you are running your new RAM using the X.M.P. profile in the BIOS. The new chips are hungry for higher clocked RAM and if you don't use X.M.P. it defaults to 2133MHz.

I can tell you that this cpu surprised me in a good way..
it hits 45-50% load at Alexandria and i game at 4k.
At other areas which are not so demanding drops down to 30-35% load..

Well if it has 6 physical cores that would be a better performer. I did not know that.

i had high hopes that it would perform better but i didn't expect that kind of performance.
And overclocked to 4.7 with a good cpu cooler and a high airflow case it doesn't go beyond 60 degrees Celsious at full load.

SOLVED!

It was actually a Windows 10 issue, my copy was not genuine anymore and after getting in touch with Microsoft support I was able to update Windows 10 to version 1709 (Fall Creator Update) and the ingame performance are more than doubled.
Before the update my whole windows environment was slower and sluggish almost like I downgraded my PC instead than upgraded it.

I haven't played yet, I only did benchmark because of this issue.
Before the win update my CPU usage was between 85-97 on all threads at all times, now with the update they are usually at 50 some cores between 70-100, but when there are more nps all 12 threads go up to 90-95.

I guess the game really uses all the CPU power when you are in major cities.

Yes I didn't do a fresh install because I am lazy, I uninstalled all previous MB drivers before installing the new parts.
After that I installed all the new drivers but it was a windows issue with the new intel z370 chipset I think.
Also I set the RAM XMP from bios and was running as intended at 3200MHz.
