Difference between Camel and Horse?
Like is one faster or slower/more health or something?

Probably none. Some elements of the game are super shallow, this is one of them.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the mounts are just an after thought tossed in for people who might like to avoid fast travel. There's no difference so far as I can tell other than visual and when I saw the mount vendor I assumed there would actually be some type of variety but basically it's the same horse/camel with a different saddle or cloth on it. Would have honestly made more sense if they treated the mount more like the bird, make it his personal one and give it a little character.

It's not a big deal really, the game is not really centered around mounts but if you're going to add a mechanic it helps to do it properly. I literally never used the mounts in DA: Origins for that very reason, they were super horrible, I couldn't even stand looking at the terrible animations and that stupid "swoosh" visual so I never used them.

Both the mounts can carry an extra passenger, alive or dead.

Horses are faster yes, but with mounted combat, a Camels height may give an advantage. I haven't been able to tell what the HP buff difference is yet.

Without Mounts the 3 Phylakes I've dispatched would still be breathing.

NPC: Get off your mount and fight me with honor!
Me: I'm a gamer, I have no honor!

As far as I know the horse and camel don't die. I think the horse is a little faster, but I'm still trying to see if there is a difference. Camels are better for the desert anyways sense they can store water, and horses can't. Horses rely on you giving them water.

I believe horse is faster, but it's easier for enemies to knock you off of it

Camel is a bit slower, but you are a lot harder to knock off

I don't believe there is any difference in the gameplay.

Historically, though, horses could not stand the stench of camels, which gave Saracen cavalry an advantage. Also, camels should be much better suited to desert travel (endurance especially), but in the game, every mount and boat behaves like Rolls Royce.

Camels seem more manoeuvrable in combat and may even accelerate faster than horses. But when it comes to top speed horses win. A rare or legendary camel is more than fast enough though if you really have to choose between the two.

In short. Camels for versatility and combat. Horses for speed and travel.

I don't think it's just an after thought or a vanity thing. As far as I can tell, the difference depends on what you're wanting to do.

Horses seem faster but for shorter periods of time. If it's a quick a to b jobby they seem to be better.

Camels seem to have more stamina. They take a bit longer to get going but they maintain that speed for longer, so if you're on a long journey they seem better.

I'm unsure yet if there's a difference with roads or cross country. Horses sometimes seem better along roads and tracks where camels seem better across the desert.

All of those things would make complete sense based on the actual animals. As for sticking with one mount and giving it character like Senu, that doesn't fit in the slightest. As a general rule back then a tracker would maintain their bond with one bird however mounts were always a come and go sort of deal. For a long expedition it would be impossible to keep the same mount unless you were giving it time to rest at spots. It was usually get to this location, swap for fresh mounts. Keep going.

There is no difference. The difference in speed is a perception thing, since you sit higher on a camel. Gameplaywise there is no difference. Everyone is knocked down off them by a heavy swing, and side by side both have the same speed.

Hello,

There does seem to be a difference in speed but not combat, which was tested on reddit, if you'd like to read the full discussion.

If not, here's a link to the video itself >>

Yes they do.

I wanted to see if Eternal Vigil was flammable (killable) and came back to life.

Wasn't disappointed. Best Mummy camel ever.

I find it much easier to cut people down from horseback or camelback. Unfortunately, since I use a poisoned blade, I'm always nicking the poor horses and they wander off after the battle, then keel over. I feel so guilty.

Question: is there a way to make the mount speed up? I can't get them to move any faster than a slow trot.
