Flying Carpets

So I just entered Iment Nome (near Giza) and I've been seeing this red flying carpet that seems significant, but I can't interact with it. After following it for a while, it disappears. Anyone know if I'm supposed to do something with it? I can't seem to find anything online.

I’m playing on PS4 but I also saw a red carpet in the air when I was next to the second pyramid, I think it might be part of the heat stroke mechanic

That's crazy, I didn't know this was a thing. There was also a moment where a fish (legitimate flopping fish) fell from the sky in front of me while on my mount. Should've seen my face.

Yes it is a hallucination, I saw a bunch of bugs flying around in a circle after my horse.

That explains the fish lying in the desert I witnessed. I thought the hallucinations would be accompanied by some obvious graphic filtering. Now I see it's just New Vegas's Wacky Wasteland. I'm good with that.

I fought some bad guys will having heat stroke and they looked to be shimmering, on fire and slightly demonic. It was great.

It happened to me near the necropolis bandit hideout. I followed it, and when it reached a certain point it would just stay around the same spot, floating like if it was dancing.

Yeah, that's the thingy! Then I saw a fish fall from the sky, which blew my mind because I didn't know that the heat stroke mechanic existed in this game
