is there an alternative way to do it instead of with mouse? when i swipe mouse to any side it only moves camera i cant reliably select another enemy, i'd rather have a button for it.

or any advice to make it work better?

I'm using mouse, and never lock, just face the way you want to fight!

Harag, you should use lock to focus on a single enemy instead of blind attacking in the same direction it's crucial especially for duels or weapons with a small range of attack such as the spears.
i also found the lock switching very unresponsive,
i usally unlock and lock again quickly to change between targets but the combat could have been way better if it was easier to switch between targets.

If you have access to a controller, I really recommend you switch from M/KB. I started with M/KB and quickly changed. The gameplay was clearly made for it and it responds well. The combat is also seamless and easier with a controller. That said, if you don't have access to one, not much can be done to make changing targets after lock-on much easier.
