Major FPS issues

Hey Forum, I'm running a Gtx 1080, 8GB DDR4 RAM and an i7 7700k . No matter which graphic preset i chose the fps falls between 30-40. Any fix?

Nothing really, just wait and hope for a patch. The game runs like ♥♥♥♥.

Try disabling AA and AO maybe you'll get some frames.

same problem. and on the ultra, and on the low 60-70 fps, but game experience bad,
feeling that FPS drop to 30-40, although the counter says 60

go down to the nvidia framerate issue fix part and follow the instructions it fixed it for me...it says dishonored 2 bt it means AC Origins.

This is what I was told by Ubisoft Support, concerning my FPS issues:

"From what you've described, some of the game files may have been corrupted during installation, and could be causing the errors that you are seeing. Please follow the steps below to verify the game cache in Steam."

1. Launch Steam.
2. Select the Library tab at the top of the window.
3. Right- or (if using a Mac) control-click the game title in the list on the left.
4. Select "Properties".
5. On the Local Files tab, select "Verify Integrity of Game Cache".

As expected, Ubisoft won't even acknowledge the issue.

1920 x 1080 Resolution
60 FPS always with V-sync on.
Otherwise it goes more towards the 90 FPS, but the screen tearing gets awful.

I'm trying to run 1440p @ 60 with a 1070 and even on Medium is not ideal performance, might bite the bullet and try 1080p then.

I get between 70-80fps most of the timein game...and i get a 'Frame Score' of 8175 in the benchmark, if that help at all...

I was in the same boat.

I was constantly dropping frames ANYWHERE i went. no matter what was on the screen, I could be alone in the desert and i turn my camera around and it drops 10 frames.

1. First I downloaded Geforce EXP. and let it auto configure AC.
2. Secondly I went into the Nvidia control panel and only changed my GPU to be on performancer for ACO.

check to see if ACO is downclocking your CPU. Which it was doing for me. It was taking my 3.9 Boost clock. (default on cpu) that I have running 100% all the time at 3.9 and dropping it down to 3.5 and fluctuating from there to 3.7. Along with the 100% cpu eating bug (if it is a bug) i think this was killing my frames as it was constantly adjusting the clock.

3.Go into bios, up your voltage and change your multiplier. You do not need to really overclock the cpu. you can change the multiplier to be the same as your boost clock if you want. this will just stop the cpu from being able to change clocks. Atleast from what Ive found. I personally OCed from 3.9 to 4.0.


- I DO NOT recommend OCing as a fix, only do it if you know how and have a unlocked card. further more you don't really need to OC. Im sure the game would have ran fine at the clock it ususally runs for me which was 3.9, but for some reason ACO would downclock my cpu and the only fix i could figure out was to 100% overclock it so that nothing could alter the clock speed.

This has fixed all my issues regarding FPS. it has not dropped below 55 At all. and the only reason it has dropped to 55 so far was when I would load back into the game.

Another note to add that this hasnt fixed everything. I never received "stutter" when i had bad fps, but have noticed that i do "stutter" some times.
Along with the fact that cutscenes seem to drop in fps but the graphs/fpscounter say it remains at 60.

Make sure adaptive quality is turned on.
Turn clutter down lower.
Turn environmental detail down lower.

Those will hit the CPU pretty hard so if you're getting less than 99% GPU usage, try those.
If you're getting 99% GPU usage but still getting poor framerates, try also lowering:

Screen space reflections
Volumetric clouds
Shadow quality

Those hit the GPU.

I don´t know if the answers above helped you or not, but i had a similar problem with my GTX 1060. No matter which preset i chose, i only got about 13-24 fps. I searched everywhere for a solution because reviews said that my GPU should run with at least 40 fps on extreme settings and above 90 fps with low settings.

In fact it was a "hardware problem" for me.
My GPU was on the wrong slot of my MSI motherboard. I was told that the slot right next to the CPU has the lowest ping for the GPU and could safe some ms. The result of switching the GPU from the second nearest to the nearest slot where overwhelming. My graphic settings where somewhere between low and middle when i took these measurements in memphis...

Before switching the GPU slot:
FPS: 13-24
GPU latency: 35-40 ms
CPU latency: 6-9 ms

After switching the GPU slot:
FPS: ~95
GPU latency: ~10 ms
CPU latency: ~4ms

I hope this could help you or at least someone else who is desperately looking for the reason of the bad performance with a good GPU.
