Camera spinning in menu, attack buttons not working

Whenever i open up menu (with the esc button) my camera starts spinning and attack buttons stop working. When i try to cycle the item wheel or exit the menu my character does an attack. Tried restarting pc, plugging/unpluging my mouse/controller. Probably not the inputs fault, because my mouse/gamepad work just fine in other games.

sometimes when this happens, opening and closing the controller config for the game fixes it. otherwise you gotta restart the game to fix it

i think the only thing you can do to prevent this is make sure your controller is connected and staying connected.
i don't remember the fixes people shared but this bug isn't exclusive to MHW so you can probably find a solution somewhere
