Constant 50086-MW1 DC
My fiancee just purchased this so we could play together but regardless of who hosts the session we're getting the 50086-MW1 disconnection. I've tried disabling the steam overlay but that is pretty much the only specific bit of advice I've been able to find, most of the info I've been able to look up about the error code is from a year ago and tends to say "Have someone else with better internet host." But both of us have stable internet and it happens irregardless of who hosts.

Help please. :(

Update Edit: Please chime in if you're having this error! I need to figure out if its been fixed for everyone or not. I haven't run into this problem since I toggled sending data to capcom "Off" in the privacy options of the main menu.

Edit 2: So far I think 2 people have said that using a VPN has fixed the problem for them. I can't begin to guess what that interaction is but.. worth a shot if you have one.

Edit 3 (9/18/2020): So as far as I can tell; I have no clue!

Changing my router to DMZ fixed a majority of my connection issues with my fiancee, but I would still run into the problems on occasion. And from what I can gather from other people's issues here the only solution that consistently works is using a VPN or otherwise changing your internet source provider to re-route your connection. I'm not enough of a techie nerd to know why this is, but I'm assuming some funky bouncing between steam servers and the multiplayer code for World itself.

Opening NAT helps some people no problem, but other people with the exact same error code can follow the exact same steps and the solution doesn't apply. Odd.

Perhaps someone (I no longer play MHW atm) could test a ping-reducing service like WTFast, NoPing, or Outfox and see what their results are? I have a bunch of doubts about such services but if they can route your connection more efficiently to a specific steam server it could improve stability.

Keep in mind that even if YOUR connection is perfect, World appears to be P2P. Meaning if someone else is getting this error and disconnecting everyone in their lobby when they host, it won't stop you from D/Cing from them.

TL;DR Try following a guide to open your NAT and/or otherwise use a VPN or ping reduction service such as WTFast. Other than that you could look into replacing or updating your router to a newer model if possible.

Nobody can help with a problem caused by steam's backend servers.

Capcom wont fix it. It's been ever since World launch. There is none working Player fix either so you have to just solo the game as i do.
I've been experiencing this too, but like everyone's already said it's unlikely we'll ever be heard or receive the attention of anyone to fix this.

There's really nothing that can be done? It's 100% on capcom's servers? That's such a bummer. We saw all these videos of people playing together and stuff and it seemed to be the main draw of the game, so that's what we were going for but if we can't even play together.. :(

its 100% on steam servers, not capcom's servers.

Do not listen the trolls. It is Capcom's game and they refuse to fix it. Yes it is because the Servers cant connect to Steam but that is solely only Capcoms fault.

Nope, Again, Steam issues, unrelated to capcom. Steam did maintainance and -that- screwed stuff up for peopple.

You can tell Capcom that but they will jsut redirect the issue to steam because its a service provided by steam for free to games whom sell alot of copys.

No it isn't since that problem has been ever since Launch. And it's Capcom's game so its their responsibility to fix it. Dont try to shoehorn this in to Steam.

Capcom's game their problem so only Capcom can fix it.
If it was Steam's problem we would have a fix by now.

Hey lets not bicker and fight each other. We're all in this together and ultimately it doesn't matter whose fault it is when there's still the underlying problem no matter who you point fingers at.

With some good news; Having tried the shotgun approach of using every fix I can find, namely; Port forwarding, turning off anti-virus, turning off steam overlay, playing borderless windowed, one person hosts session other hosts hunt, and signing offline on steams' friends list, we were finally able to play together for a session.

Not sure if it was a fluke or not. It could've just been the servers finally cooperating but it did suddenly work after signing offline on the steam friends list. I'll report back after further testing.

Update; Nope, it's still happening. I guess last night was just a fluke. Consistantly about 2 minutes into any quest we try to do together we get D/C'd from each other. Same 'ol 50086-MW1. Even tried an additional solution we found of applying "-nofriendsui -udp" to the launch options but it made zero difference.
My wife and myself have the same problem.
For some unknown reason (yet to be discovered) whenever she or i accept a quest or join the one created by the other there's some sort of latency half explained by the fact mhw exe starts to write/read on the disk and somehow the process is hanging in the meantime, probably causing the issue of disconnect to appear.

thanks for the answer, i'll try that, despite having disabled the overlay for long (i've noticed since iceborne launch that it made the input acting weird).

We'll try the steam launch fix tonight and report back. We've had some minor inconsistent success in playing together lately, but it seems almost specifically only on optional missions. Assignments tend to result in the 50086-MW1 within about 3 minutes without fail, curiously enough.

But we were on an optional mission and subsequent expedition for about an hour without trouble. More and more I'm inclined to believe that it is just steam servers or capcom's code (regardless of whichever the end result is the same) and there's not much I can do to directly impact it.

To add to this, however, I did find that going offline on the steams friendlist seemed to improve our odds of successful connections. It could simply be the placebo effect and it's just a coincidence, but I'll take what I can get.

Any news on this? Only started playing Iceborne the other day and it's insane the amount of disconnects I'm having. I remember around launch for World it was a disaster but I thought it was fixed?
