You can tell Capcom that but they will jsut redirect the issue to steam because its a service provided by steam for free to games whom sell alot of copys.
Capcom's game their problem so only Capcom can fix it.
If it was Steam's problem we would have a fix by now.
With some good news; Having tried the shotgun approach of using every fix I can find, namely; Port forwarding, turning off anti-virus, turning off steam overlay, playing borderless windowed, one person hosts session other hosts hunt, and signing offline on steams' friends list, we were finally able to play together for a session.
Not sure if it was a fluke or not. It could've just been the servers finally cooperating but it did suddenly work after signing offline on the steam friends list. I'll report back after further testing.
For some unknown reason (yet to be discovered) whenever she or i accept a quest or join the one created by the other there's some sort of latency half explained by the fact mhw exe starts to write/read on the disk and somehow the process is hanging in the meantime, probably causing the issue of disconnect to appear.
You can try the steam launch fix you find it internet but if that doesn't work there is no fix and it very sad i agree....
Here is a link that explains how try the Steam fix it could work few people : https://www.shacknews.com/article/106684/how-to-fix-the-83-mw1-error-code-in-monster-hunter-world
But we were on an optional mission and subsequent expedition for about an hour without trouble. More and more I'm inclined to believe that it is just steam servers or capcom's code (regardless of whichever the end result is the same) and there's not much I can do to directly impact it.
To add to this, however, I did find that going offline on the steams friendlist seemed to improve our odds of successful connections. It could simply be the placebo effect and it's just a coincidence, but I'll take what I can get.
