Odd screen fog in elder's recess/when hunting certain elder dragons
so i noticed this weird screen effect after hunting a teostra and him doing his super-nova move. its very possible it was doing this before and i just didnt notice it till that point.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWJw-r0dCEY

This is not me, but this is the exact thing that is happening to me. So is this a bug? it seems to happen in any zone that currently has (at least) kush and teo, but does not appear to happen in the rotten vale for BV vaal hazak.
Im going crazy trying to figure out if this is a problem, or if its always been in the game and ive just noticed? and feedback would be greatly appreciated

i have an i7-8700k 1070ti if that helps

I think you are talking about those blue glowing dots?

Those are your scoutflies, they show the way to the monster.
They're green normaly but turn blue for elder dragons and tempered monsters.

They appear if monster tracks are nearby or at the start of the quest if you collected enough tracks of that monster.

its not the scoutflies, the screen gets a weird haze that pulses about every 3 seconds. it looks like smoke blowing around in this particular video. its color changes depending on area or time of day. i guess the video isnt perfect but it definitely shows the effect im having.

Ok now I see it.

I did a bit of testing and this seems to be related to the weather.
When Kushala is in the Map the sky gets a storm effect, also causing this fog.

I never really noticed this before but I guess its an intended effect.

It's the volumetric fog no? If it is then you can and should disable it, IMO

After Iceborne, an elder dragon being on the map produces weather effects. I think the one you're asking about is Kushala's.

I'm okay with most of the weather effects, but the blue fog one is really distracting for me and I wish I could turn it off. I had a similar, confused reaction at first and thought it was a bug.

well this def makes me feel a bit better. have you guys been able to confirm if teo causes a similar effect? ive seen teo, kush, and vaal ( i guess technically velk too) since iceborne released and kush n teo seem the only ones to do this. im almost positive this effect wasnt happening until teo did his super-nova, but its possible thats just when i noticed it happening.

thanks for the replies!

I noticed something similar but a bit worse(I think) in Wildspire Waste on Teostra, the whole screen would get orange :< didn't capture it, but while moving I noticed a circular shape around Teostra when I was outside of it, never seen it before but I only recently started to use volumetric fog since I always turned it off before but I kinda I like it now in DX12 and had performance to spare for it(using Variable).

i dont have that turned on currently, and when i turn in on/cycle through the intensities (during the effect or otherwise) it doesnt actually do anything to stop it, or seem to have any effect on it at all.

watching some other videos on youtube and comparing them with the original that i posted, the effect def seems to be a bug. the weather effects that the elder dragons produce does not make as an aggressive screen effect as the original video shows.
whats concerning is that anyone having this problems seems to be having it before iceborne, so a fix seems pretty unlikely.
