Xbox controller suddenly not working, pls help
Entered game and one of the buttons got assigned for screenshot and can't change
I play with an xbox controller and after last time I launched game the button to start the quest started taking screenshots. I removed the ability to take screenshots from the steam settings but the button still remains without working in game. I can't find anywhere where the controller mapping could be changed and this makes it impossible to enter any quest.

1. Launch Steam in Big Picture Mode.

2. Go to Library -> Monster Hunter: World.

3. On the game page, go to Manage Game -> Controller Options (under Steam Controller)

4. In the Controller Application Options pop-up, under the "Steam Input Per-Game Setting", choose "Forced Off" from the drop down menu.

5. Save and check functionality in-game.

This function is supposed to be useful for those who use configurators and set up custom keybindings for each game. I have never used them, but I figure that checking this option basically allows my Xbox 360 controller to work in default mode. Seemed to work for me, hope it's useful for others. Cheers! :)

I tried the controller in other things and that button works perfectly
Does monster hunter have a place to change the controller button mapping that I am not aware of?
Why would the button suddenly be assigned for screenshots if I didn't change anything in the settings of steam or MHW?
Somebody please help, I would like to keep on playing this game since it was so expensive but it's impossible like this

Something is interfering with the game and the controller communicating properly. Try going into the steam controller settings and make sure there's no options checked in there.
Steam -> Settings -> Controller -> General Controller Settings

Thank you for answering
I checked and had the guide button focuses steam checked
I unchecked and tried again and it did not work
I tried the game and controller on someone else's computer and it ran just fine
I'm going to try and reinstall the game and see if it fixes, otherwise I will have to try and find what else could be on my pc interfering with this

I have the same problem. I would like to know what you find for the solution.

I keep running into this issue. It'll either freeze the game or just not work at all from time to time. Other games I can use my controller just fine but with MHW it just doesn't sometimes :/

I still haven't found a solution.
The weird thing is that the controller I can get it to work fine but there's just this one button that won't the game won't respond to
I tried with other controllers and tried the controller itself in other computers to check if it was faulty but I always run into the same problem
The game reinstall did not work but I think it's not something from my steam settings because I tried in another person computer and the game did not make this error.
I'm guessing there's another program on my computer making this error? I will try to find out and share if I figure it out

I have this issue too. Started after this last patch. My Xbox or my PS4 controllers dont work.

I've been running into the same problem since this morning! It was working alright two days ago, but all of a sudden it's been taking screenshots with the back button.

I suspect it has something to do with Steam updates; might have messed something up. My controller was working fine after the patch and I suspect it's only after a Steam update that it stopped.

I should add that I have no mods installed nor have I been using a third party program to interface with the controller. It's always been plug and play for me tbh.

Will add on more when I investigate.
