Connection to the session has been lost. Error code: 5098f-MW1
So lately I've been receiving the following error quite frequently. When I join an SOS and play for a bit I get the error. Are the server overpopulated and everyone else is getting the error or it's just me ?

I had this issue. After research, a lot of people said it was resolved when they removed mod packs.

Unfortunately I did not have any mod packs. But I did have the High Resolution Texture pack.

When I disabled that, I stopped getting this error when playing with friends. So *sniff* it's pleb textures for me.

I don't have any mods, nor the high resolution texture pack, yet the errors continue.

I searched into the topic and saw that some people use the old friend steam overlay which is added to the launch options, but that didn't seem to work too.. :/

Things you can try are:
1) Change DNS to like https://1.1.1.1/dns/ or Google's public DNS - reboot your computer after the change.
2) Use Borderless Window, there is a chance to disconnect if you alt-tab in Fullscreen(screen goes black for a split second and in that split second you can disconnect).
3) Turn off Steam overlay completely for the game(Right-click->Properties->Uncheck "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game").

Thanks, but none of the following fixed the errror. I still get disconnected from online sessions..

I see.

Btw, do you also get disconnected from your own sessions when playing alone?

Don't believe so, happens most often when I join other people's sessions and begin a monster hunt and at some point I get dc-ed and have to finish the fight alone.

What fixed the issue for me is using Ethernet over Wi-Fi, I get disconencted form the game only if I alt-tab too much, but can play normal with Etherned without getting dc-ed every 15-20 mins.
