MHWorld crashes on startup
I have no clue why it happens and I've already tried everything I can think of.
I have restarted my PC, checked for Windows updates, checked for World updates (and updated today, just before trying to play for the first time and noticing the problem), tried launching the game w/out mods, uninstalled and reinstalled the whole game and it still crashes on startup.

For some reason, it just shows a black window as soon as I launch it and closes right after.
Any ideas?

I solved it. If you're having the same problem, try deleting the dinput8.dll.
Worked like a charm for me.

Thank you SO much! I had done pretty much the same things as you and had been beating my head against a wall for the past few days trying to get it working. Any idea why it died suddenly?

The update broke compatibility with whichever mod put the dimput8.dll file in the game folder. The most common culprit seems to be the custom quest loader.

I just spent hours re-downloading MHW, updating my drivers and messing through config files. I'm glad I finally stumbled upon this solution.

Thanks a bunch.

That's what happens when you delete important dll files instead of just one from a mod that's causing an issue.

Verify your cache and steam will restore what you deleted.

Starting from wherever you Steam folder is (usually in "Local Disk C:") follow these folders:

Steam>steamapps>common>Monster Hunter World

In there, there should be that file I mentioned before. Delete it and try to run the game again.
