If I understood correctly, you are basically saying that the Mod Manager doesn't work properly. I don't know what the issue is, but you can try using Mod Organiser 2 instead. It's a bit more sophisticated, as far as I'm aware, but it won't lag like hell when you are working with large files or mods that have a lot of files. I still use the MHW Mod Manager myself, since I don't add/test mods often enough to warrant switching, so the lag doesn't faze me. However, a friend of mine uses Mod Organiser 2, and he told me that it has been doing a good job.
There shouldn't be any problems with manually installing the mods. Not unless some of them are outdated, of course. Apart from losing track of what you installed and the tediousness, it's one of the few solid ways of installing them. Did you install any new mods that might be outdated?
If the problems appeared out of nowhere, there's a really high chance it's something else. Maybe a new driver update, or maybe a system update. Windows 11 is still something I'm not familiar with, since I'll be holding on to 10 until it's abandoned for good. Just like how I did to Windows 7. Damn, good old days. Time flies when you're having fun...
Finally, it would be a damn hassle, but a list of what you installed might be helpful for finding what might be causing the issue. I got nothing to do these days, so I'll at least try to help out. Also, try the "clean install" method under the Troubleshooting section of the modding guide. In case you didn't see it yet, you can find it below. Open it in a browser tab for most comfort.

xou can scratch that...the game crashes even with no mods in it..,and its the same Windows error ID 1000...MHWI just closes out of no where
I think i figured it out. Every time in the details when the error 1000 happened there was a exemption code 0xc0000005. This means something is wrong with the games save file! So i thought for a moment and…i remembered i installed a safe editor for MHWI so i can get myself decorations for builds. All those decos are super rare like Attack gem+. And with the f*cked up RNG of MHWI…i decided to rather use this cheat than having to grind out for a gem…i possibly not get at all.
I mean, I used the save editor myself and I never had issues.
Then what could it be? Its not a corrupted save file. I have verfied the games files and did every repair trick via commad center. Fummy enough...no corrupted save data. Also funny...it always happens when i play with my friend it happens...
I just hada alight bulb moment...Maybe it is discord! I had a Similar problem in the past. Its when i pressed the Windows button to open discord because MHWI doesn`t let me use the Discord overlay for some reason. So i usually press the WIndows button to open the bar and then open Discord for calls and stuff. Maybe the discord plug in crosses with the game plug causing those crashes
It has to be one of ur mods that cause this issue ( if it's a old mod that could be the reason) Also using MO2 instead of vortex won't change anything unless the mod is made to be used with said mod manager .
I've been using vortex for skyrim , fallout and many other games and i've never encountered any problem (i have over 1k mods on some of my games).
Well..I just hope my save file is nor corrupted. Everything seems fine. i can load my file..go on quests..But when i am in expeditions...or in a mission...i always fear it may crash soon. I just hope its that one issue i always had that MHWI is clashing with discord
Funny enough is…the game still crashes even when i have all the mods gone. Maybe some of the visual mods conflict each other? I recently just took away all mods and played with a friend of mine. We where calling over discord…the crashes still happened. Then when i closed discord and played by myself…game was running fine! So either…mods are clashing…or discord is messing with the game. Either way…i try a experiment. I download and install all mods i had again…then i play by myself. If a crash happens…i take out one mod set out and then play again. If the game again crashes with one or the other mod set…i know wich mod set is the bad one. But of both Mod sets work on their own…that means i have a clash.
Mods like changing armore texture/ changing the way compendium and things like this won't really make the game crash , things that change video settings and increase/modify graphisme may cause crash and issue , one way to make sure it is not ur pc but mods is to use a app that check how ur pc is doing (heat , CPU usage , etc) and see how it's doing witheout mods , witheout mods and discord , with mods , with mods and discord and do a comparison , if nothing really change for how ur pc handle it then it's a issue with the mods themself.
I also doubt it's a ''corupted save files'' , if you can play on the save then it's all good , if you have uninstalled and installed again and everyting is working witheout mod then 100% it is not a problem.
SOmething i wanna point out is at somepoint i add custom quest (modded obviously) and it was causing me crash , not all of them but since i had too many (there's a cap on how many modded quest you can add to ur game) the game would crash when simply swaping page in my quest menu or at other moment , questpack if not udapted may be one of the thing causing issue , seeing as it hapend to me.
In my case i had Mods that change the look of a few armors. I found out mods that add a file with something called equip then it can cause crashes and or conflicts. I be testing to see if its the mods. Because i can play the game fine without any mods. And i can use discord...as long as i am not in a call it seems.
But i literally tested it with the visual change mod for the armor on its own. It caused the game to crash...wait...unless the mod is clashing with strackersloader and the plug extender? I still had the stracker and the extender in with the armor visual change mod. Still tho...why does my MHWI game crash when i have that mod set in...? Also...my PC just got upgraded. Its not Too potatoe. I had the discord problem in the past and i was always able to solve it
