What's the policy on using cheat engine to get free stuff?
It's mostly a single player game. With no PVP of any kind. No MMO or MMO-lite elements. Are they going to ban me and display it on my Steam profile if I use cheat engine in this?

Nobody will know and nobody will care if you don't tell them (unless you make it obvious, like using end-game armor before you ever reach it). And there is no ban system.

I don't think you will get banned but if you were realllly that worried you could do the same thing with mods that are safe

There's no banning system in place because it literally does not matter. There's no PVP or anything. The worst you can do to others is annoy them on quests by being a jerk and taking it out in 1 hit with cheats and ♥♥♥♥.

Have fun with it?

CheatEngine has a feature to alter the game speed. If you're playing solo (private session or steam in offline mode), playing in slow motion is a really good way to practice and you really get to appreciate the fine details of the game. Like how the scale of a Tobi Kadachi shimmer when it charges up or how the shadow of the tree canopy shows through the wing webbing of a Rathalos

use mods instead...

I mean, I guess you could? But then what's the point of playing this game? The whole loop of killing -> gathering -> better gear -> killing stronger stuff is one of the biggest draws in this game, why bother playing when you can just cheat in the best gear?

But if that makes you enjoy the game more, go nuts I guess. Just don't use any cheats that break the game and join multiplayer with it. No one finds it impressive when someone hacks in a weapon that can one shot any monster and ruin the hunt for them.

There is no punishment from the company, but people have the option to put you on the steamblocklist, so you could end up in a shadowbanned situation, if you are too annoying in multiplayer.

No one cares. Also, just use mods instead unless you really want to use Cheat Engine for some reason.

Just don't bother anyone else and ruin their experience if you do questionable stuff.

There's no policy actually. If you want to, just do it. As long as you're not interfering with other people's games in a disruptive fashion there's no problem, regardless of what some crazy people would like to tell you.

I believe some people prefer to use cheat engine because it doesn't require to bother with any of the mod related things just to set things up. You just load the table, turn it on and do what you need to do, then turn it off and that's it, nothing to clean up either. Also, usually you can accomplish what requires multiple mods with just a single cheat table.

I get the point. However, most Cheat Engine tables never got updated after the release of Iceborne. I think it's mostly due to the lack of "necessity".

Of course you can always use FLiNG's trainer (which is likely made on Cheat Engine anyway) or mods since these options didn't get outdated. Last time I tried to edit region levels via CE, the table I was using didn't even have a line for the Tundra Region of GL.

No one worth paying attention to cares as long as you're not doing stuff that affects other players.

Which is why this person should be ignored:
