difficulty spike at anjanath
hello...I kinda stuggled with anjanath and after a couple (4 attempts) I was able to take the monster down and completed the urgent quest. I'm no stranger to the monster hunter series bujt Im pretty new to worlds. my plan is completing the full game solo and try to 100% it. Is it going to be difficult? Ive already done this whole ordeal with gu and rise.

Depends if you're willing to learn, adapt, and upgrade where needed. Those that won't will struggle. Those that do will crush everything.

Depends on what you're doing. Anjanath is the first monster that really punishes poor positioning and bad dodges. Rather take your time, as impatience will only get you in trouble for some of the monsters from here on. It's not getting that much harder for a while though, so if you manage to beat this one, then you should be capable of doing most of the rest.

On top of that, if you're not using the guardian armor, definitely make sure to keep your armor uptodate. an upgraded bone mail can definitely help against Anjanath, until you swap out the parts for the anjanath armor and beating it should become way easier with each part. This armor is also great for the rest of the low rank monsters aside from Legiana.

Oh, yeah. Good ol' times. That reminds me of the times I used to struggle with every single difficulty spike. Anjanath included. Barioth also wiped the floor with me until I figured out that I should break the arms. Anyway, I just started, and I'm already going off on a tangent here.

Persistence, preparation, practice and knowledge is how you get ahead. You are meant to become better a person (at playing the game) to win. Your gear does help, but the aforementioned things are basically required to make proper use of your gear. As long as you observe and improve, you are bound to win, even if you are alone. Only a select few quests are "impossible" for solo play.

About the 100% part (assuming that means achievements), yeah, it will be very difficult, but it's entirely possible. Mind that it's not because doing it alone is harder or something, however. It's mainly because of the RNG achievements. There are also some achievements that require multiplayer play, like helping people via SOS or sending people your Guild Card.

You can even circumvent some of the hardest achievements via mods, if that's your style. Mind that the "hardest" achievements I'm referring here are "difficult" only because of RNG and nothing else. Anything that poses a challenge instead of requiring you to mindlessly roll the dice can be achieved way before you get anywhere close to getting the RNG achievements.

Kinda strange that you completed GU and Rise but still Anjanath gave you a hard time, since Anjanath was in Rise too.

Maybe he rushed ahead, didn't craft himself any armor and went in with a subpar weapon too. If your gear sucks it could easily feel like you're fighting a master rank monster.

I see no other option, because World is arguably even easier than Rise, especially in the beginning the difficulty curve is very gentle.

You get 50 minutes. If a monster seems daunting back up and watch with your weapon sheathed and rolling away from danger. Shouldn't take too long to get a feel for patterns. I mostly solod the game as well and there are a few difficulty spikes where ya gotta take a breath and learn. Also remember to upgrade weapons and armor especially when you switch ranks (low to high ranks and high rank to master rank).
Most important is having updated gear.

Even if a weapons attack is just 10% higher, due to damage, exhaust, element/status and durability, it can translate to like 50% more efficiency. And due to monster possibly fleeing, it even gets exponential if we look at time needed atleast.

I would say what you experience before is pretty much the same here; Figure out monster movement, weakness, weak point and all that jazz like you did in previous installment, same stuff, different title. Just be patient because you just reach the tip of the iceberg of MH World difficulty spike.

Because Nergigante will make you questioning your purchasing decision. :cleandino:

this is true, there is a spike. so what you need to do is put a spike on your skills and equipment as well. try to learn and master different weapons. try to allocate 5-10 minutes of studying enemy movements. thats how you win here. solo is doable for sure, but it'll take more time.

what im doing now is i do quests solo when they appear for the first time on my board/handler, then when i need to do farming on those quests, i do co-op for faster farming.

Good luck! And remember to hit those white spikes before they get harder.

I like that energy. But remember what most old fleet hunter would told you...

"When in doubt, just superman dive"
You just gotta learn the monsters, OP, like you have with so many monsters before. Discover which skills you need to cover your weaknesses or augment your strengths. Anjanath is one of the first monsters to start using elemental damage that can burst you down, so equipping the Fire Resistance skill help you until you're better at avoiding its attacks.

TL;DR—Don't greed and learn which moves you can punish and which you should avoid.

Most difficult part of doing better is to have self-control. Many times Hunter cart is because they greed to get in that 1 or 2 hits when they should've been prepared to dodge or reposition instead. Like everybody else have mentioned, if you are struggling with a monster, you need to really try and learn the monster's attack pattern. You don't have to learn all of them, but the moves that are really punishing and the moves that you can punish.

It is almost impossible to Solo MHW-Iceborne, because there are very important quests in the end that require multiplayer. Without those quests you will be left with bad armor and weapons that will make defeating the hardest bosses of the game impossible.

As a then rusty MH veteran, my first difficulty spikes where Diablos, then a Pink Rathian 15 minute quest. It's only natural to face walls if you don't really know what you are doing. It just means you are missing out on some game specific tactics.
