Thank you. Is it the best option though? Do you know what is the best option for AT Velk? I am looking exactly for a "great" matchup.
I beat her with a insect glaive, but not after 4 tries, afterwards it was easier, but i also have evade window which made things alot more easier. insect glaive is surprisingly mobile like the sword and shield but with more damage output.
Try lance mate. It feels harder than fatalis.
i'll try lance on fatalis. been in my mind for some time now.
Actually it is a good matchup. That is until he smashes you with his bosom at his third stage. Keep BOTH binding balista ammo for third phase.
Now what about AT Velk?
This is what I run[imgur.com] (with Health Regen 1 and Element 2 augments)
Yea. But that does not say something new. So is DB a great matchup? Or what is? I will replay the game with a new weapon. I will drop the lance. Only monster I didn't beat is AT Velk. I won't pickup a weaker match for him.
since AT velk always spawn those icey ground around them whenever the ice mantle is active, u can spam Heavenly blade dance a lot on the hunt. dual blade is very satisfying to use againts Velk. the only annoying thing that i can think of is : since dual blades actively uses stamina, Ice Blight is definitely going to be a problem so just make sure to avoid getting those blights, i also usually dont spam blade dance a lot since AT Velk is very aggresive and u need a good position to do it (usually i do it whenever AT Velk Arc ice breath)
also make sure to up those evade window and Constitution (atleast 3 cons), so u can be a dodge god and move around like a chad around AT Velk
Damage wise?
You can find sub 8 TA wiki speedruns.
You can also find sub 7 TA wiki speedruns with lance.
There might be better times, I didn’t do a thorough search.
Imho, it will depend on how good the player is with the weapon and how well they know the monster. Playstyle is a very important factor in this game.
If you like lance, I’d recommend to look into long sword, iai spirit slash and foresight slash might fit your playstyle better if you like counter attacks. The weapon is easy to use but hard to master.
Dual blades focus more on good positioning and knowing how long are monster opening windows to choose the correct attacks. The weapon is very fast but good damage attacks are very long.
Most of at velk attacks patterns are based in the normal and tempered patterns, getting very familiar with this might help a lot. To me, it was the other way around, at velk helped me to learn the patterns of the other versions.
Not damage wise. More like moveset and weapon type meshing with specific monster wise.
I'm aware of longsword counters. I feel longsword shouldn't have been a counter weapon. But lets not get into that rabbit hole.
