The usual culprit people complain about is the SSAO, which the engine handles in a rather bad way.
But, "looks so crap" doesn't tell us anything.
watch here.
the details are good, that isnt my problem. But the colours, everything looks like Gray and milky. idk.. i think that shouldnt be ... o.O
or my eyes need a break of gaming xD
If you haven't, turn off the "Volume Rendering Quality" setting. It throws a fog over everything, takes an absolutely massive amount of gpu power, and tends to make most of the game look worse.
If you've enabled DLSS or FidelityFX, turn those off. They're an overall reduction to image quality.
And, for the blocky detail shadows, there's nothing you can do unless you want to just turn off ambient occlusion. It's just the way the game renders the effect. Downsides to an ancient engine that is finally being retired.
Okey thanks for your support. I'll try it out and hopefully it works. Thanks :)
You can try this (it's a reshade preset)
The comments/posts have enough info on how to set it up so you should be good to go.
The game does look pretty washed-out and grey. It reminds me of how Dark Souls 3 used to be. That game was also so damn greyish and bland. That preset helps greatly. I have been using it for quite some time now.
None that I can tell. The performance impact of a reshade is minimal as far as I notice.
I still get around 60-75 (144 when loading lol) FPS with relatively high settings. Only the performance-heavy stuff that don't matter like Volumetric Fog are off. I get heavy drops in Ancient Forest and Hoarfrost Reach (like all of us does lol) but I generally don't fall below 45-50. My performance before getting a reshade seems to be roughly the same.
Specs for reference:
MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X 6 gb
AMD Ryzen 2600x at 4.0 GHz
16 GB DDR4 RAM at 2993 MHz
I use a variety of other mods so I might be getting slightly better performance due to several of them. Notable mentions include Performance Booster and Plugin Extender and No Bloom. No Bloom doesn't make a difference if I remember right but Booster does help a little.
add some reshades and graphic mods.

It boils down to personal choice though. I just wanted to provide an example.
