Negative reviews
Is it just me or are all of the negative reviews just flat out wrong calling the "mindless swinging and grinding" or "graphics too crowded"? I understand the reviews that say you cant skip cutscenes or that the online is a little bit finnicky, but I can not for the life of me figure out why these people are saying these things other than just frustration that they get smashed by a regular diablos or something. I don't know maybe i am a mhw white knight but i guess I'm just confused at the content of these negative reviews bashing the game that are not even true. If anyone that actually plays this game can shed some light or maybe actually give some useful information on the things in this game that are actually turning people off so that the steam reviews aren't filled with a bunch of just random nonsense.

Not sure about the "graphics too crowded" line, but usually people that complain about the "mindless swinging and grinding" are the same people that choose the Guardian armor at the start, and think combat is done by holding W and spamming left-click. Basically they literally play the game 100% wrong, and then blame the game for it.

To be fair if you play online with 3 other people mindless button mashing works 99% of the time for 90% of the game. Nobody from the negative reviews reached event monsters which are the only one that actually require any kind of skill in multiplayer.

The negative reviews are ridiculous to say the least. People dislike the Iceborne DLC for being difficult, while this is what makes MH great. In particular they dislike that monsters have much hp and you have to actually train your muscle memory to fight them rightly.

They also complain about the clutch claw - yes, aiming with it feels clunky, but on the other hand it can give you satisfying wallbangs, it's a draw, Tenderizing monsters with the clutch claw in my personal opinion is dumb, but I would not rate this as a negative, again it is a draw, it is not good but not bad either.

It's a great DLC with tons of content to grind through, new attack moves, new story, etc.

All in all, if Nier Automata, a very buggy game gets a good rating and MHW Iceborne a bad one, it is just ridiculous, some people rate games very unfairly.

Reminds me about how Iceborne is still "Mixed" in means of reviews.

I mean, there are many things to point out but it's more about Capcom's consistent ʳᵉᵗᵃʳᵈᵉᵈ design choices than the game itself tbh.

People either have no time or patience these days (more like the past decade but anyway...) so it's only natural for them to lash out when things aren't how they expected I guess.

I mean we live now in the era where game reviewers and public demand easy modes. Look at Sekiro and Dark Souls games for example. There are legit people who DEMAND it needs to have difficulty settings for snowflakes.

Monster Hunter is the only series where people will laugh at you for being unable to murder a satanic monster beast that makes your childhood nightmares look like kitty cats in comparison. They wont even blink if you manage to ride the Trex with exploding breath and a thousand degree sword-tail. Like seriously, that is every cowboy/Presidents dream come true ever.

God I love this series and its fans sometimes. Never change. XD

What makes me laugh are the ppl who refuse to actually learn the game and just calls it trash.

Lmao, hope they never change and keep on playing games where they never have to learn the game

Most people whine about the fact that you commit to your attacks and can't cancel out of them mid-animation. That makes the game sluggish and hard for them.

Part of this is sadly the game's fault imo. The fact that it gives you guardian armor to start makes it seem like you can just facetank and mash through fights since it gives you insane defense for early game and by the time there's any real challenge the new player is likely to give up because they don't understand how the game really works. It hurts the new player experience a lot and makes the game seem like something that it isn't which is sad. I replayed the story recently once I was done grinding out sets in rise and I immediately noticed that the broken defender gear was pushed hard, with the armor auto-equipped. It made the first few monsters a joke until I took it off and realized that great jag and pukei are pretty good starter mons when you aren't broken immediately. I think that it's one of the main problems with the story mode. The other is the padding but that's been discussed a million times.

Pepole left negative reviews because they didn't like a movie joke.
Yeah.

Tenderizing monsters with the clutch claw in my personal opinion is dumb, but I would not rate this as a negative

I would, tenderizing was by far the worst thing they added to MHW
Namie May 16, 2021 @ 11:47pm
Gave it a negative cuz of the DRM.

Agreed, although I was one of those new players who understood that the Guardian Armor and weapons were only going to last me for so long until I had to understand the other mechanics that make the game what it is in order to progress through story.
