so.
your in master rank gear right?
farming a HIGH RANK monster for a crown, should be extraordinarily easy. do the high rank crown event quest or investigations for high rank that contain a deviljho. if it doesnt look crown size either return from quest or abandon pending on if you did anything worth doing or simply muscle through it and beat them up.
i dunno what the complaint is about here, capcom literally made farming base game content easier in terms of effort put forth.
Very good HR investigations of that kind are extremely rare. So there's already a low chance of you even getting the right investigation for a crown. And then even those only have a chance of 6% for a crown as far as I know.
Add to that that you get just 3 of those very rare 3 or 2 gold rewards investigations. So it probably means spending countless hours hunting HR Deviljho just to get a crown for a HR Monster that you easily get from the Horizon zero dawn event on PS4. Feels like bs to me.
Umm, no you most certainly can get Deviljho HR investigations. When you max out research on a monster it vastly increases the likelihood you will get investigations involving the monster you're researching/fighting/capturing.
it is up to you if you want to put afford into it or simply go the easy way.
you can chose between sam and different mods which increase crownchance or go the hard way and kill the dino until you got what you wanted
around 100 kills if you are unlucky
btw i used something like 1 silver 2 bronze and also got my crown
the ratio is just worse but better dont talk about ratio and simply kill the beast till you got what you want or simply cheat.
There also a tiny chance that we may see the hzd collab in the future while street fighter is coming at 1. oct
That said, even with maxed research for a monster, it still possible to not get any investigations at all, and/or not any of the monster whose track's you're picking up, although this is more likely to occur with elder dragons (possibly others). I managed to get one investigation for kushala from my first or second HR fight with it (both maxed wind resist skill and kush set bonus not doing much, rather stupid/bullshitty), and after about 7 more kush hunts of picking up about 4-5 tracks per hunt, I still haven't gotten a second investigation for it.
(fyi, I only hunt solo with tailraiders/palico, so might be different, although it shouldn't be)
on console you can just do horizon zero dawn eventquests and you get the crown 100%. a similar event should have been made for pc. but they decided not to sadly.
the reason why pickle is so painful is that there is no tempered investigations for it to begin with. thus its similar to the scarred situation in mr except they added an eventquest to address that already.
this pushes the rng to get high gold reward ingestigations for pickle off the charts imo. this wasnt a problem before iceborne simply as his crown was not needed to get the basegame achievment.
now in iceborne its required all of a sudden.
i mean there is still a small chance towards years end that pc might get horizon eventquests aswell. which is why i personally wont bother hunting the missing crowns for my profile for now. as they might add events which make them way easier to grab than currently.
Factors that make an investigation easier also increase the odds of large crown size... and factors that make an investigation harder increase the odds of small crown size.
So when I was crown-hunting, I aimed for 4-player, 50-minute, 5-cart, single-monster hunts in order to try and increase the crown size... and it worked out well enough.
