No health augment and fighting Alatreon? You're trying to do it on hard mode
Bruh... MR Tempered Diablos is to Alatreon is elementary school math is to college. Not a good comparison. Frankly 91 is a baby rank
That's wrong, clutch claw attacks don't work on him if he's casting lightning, doing headbutt attacks or his running/flying charge, but Alatreon is otherwise surprisingly safe on clutch. Especially the flying downward fire/ice breath are 100% safe on clutch. Obviously don't clutch if he's doing head attacks
I was like you a few hundred hours ago. All the monsters I used to hate, now I love (or at least don't hate anymore). I used to hate Teostra but now I chew him like the spicy beef he is. I used to hate Rajang but now I beat him without issues. I still have a few monsters I dislike but I'd probably pulverize them more efficiently if I fought them more.
Alatreon is one of my favorites because it actually has unique mechanics (like Behemoth). Then again, the flair of uniqueness wears off after killing it like 300 times.
TL;DR: Give it some time. Your hatred won't last if you get better and learn the monster. Ask for advice instead of ranting if you need help.
For armor: Gold Rath (2 pcs) with Divine 5 and whatever else you need or want -> Safi -> Alatreon -> Fatalis
For weapons: R. Brachy weapons (best raw before Kulve, also has blast ailment for some extra damage) -> Kulve (elemental weapons, takes a bit grinding to get the good ones) -> Safi (will require grinding to make them good and/or meta) -> Fatalis (best raw in most weapon categories if not all but has negative affinity)
You can check progression builds here if you feel totally lost: https://mhwibuilds.wordpress.com/mr-progression-guides/
Despite the post's title, it's not all meta builds (has poverty and progression links in it) so take a look at this link as well:
https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunterWorld/comments/j4wwwl/iceborne_meta_builds_compilation_the_fatalis/
Solo Alatreon isn't hard. You can completely ignore every damage check (including elemental topple and horn breaks) and bruteforce through the entire fight AS LONG AS you are good enough to not die to anything other than Judgement. You have two carts to work with, three when you ate safe guard, which gives you 2/3 chances to restock/switch gear after Judgement.
1) Frostfang barrioth + Velk armor is a good combination, with the only limiting factor being the lack of slots in frostcraft build. You are advised to have at least 4 lv of ice attack in order to get 1 topples. The higher your ice atk the better.
2) Survival builds are practically useless against something that has a dps check. You need to know that Alatreon don't have that many one-shot moves if you have 200hp. So avoid getting hit is enough for you to survive. Let your cat use the shieldspire gadget to draw its attention, so you can learn it's move from a different perspective. It's harder to observe calmly when you are dodging attacks yourself.
3) "Difficulty increases beyong oblivion" Well, you need to understand Alatreon was released as MHWIB‘s one of the last final updates, as one of the last challenges for players to conquer. You surely don't want to end an epic journey fighting a great Jagras do you? Comparing Alatreon with Tempered Diabolos means you still don't quite understand the difficulty rating system. TD is a tier 2 tempered monsters, that unlocks at MR24, and then there's tier 3 monsters, like elder dragons and variants like savajho that unlocks at MR100. The entry requirement for alatreon (MR24) is absolutely a joke, trying to lure innocent newbie hunters to feed alatreon.
4) It won't fly forever, even when it is flying you can still hit its hind legs. You can also force a landing with flash or flinch shot, but only when it is not enraged. It's horn has a low hp but high HZV, meaning you only need a few hits to break it. So learning its opening is extremely important. I have had success breaking it's horn with only high rank gears, so it's only a matter of mastery.
5) It seems like you still don't understand that certain monsters have multi-hit attack that is bad for rocksteady and temporal mantle. Alatreon's skydiving/running and charging horn (blue-glowing horns when it casts thunder attacks, only hurts you if you clutched onto it)are both multi-hit attacks.
Flinch-shot alatreon into walls is theoretically a good idea, but not practical unless you are experienced with it. You can save the flinch shot opportunity for when it become airborne, wait until the two hit claw attacks, then clutch claw.
6) You don't suck, you are just yet to adapt to Alatreon's fast paced fight. Gives yourself some good rest, try again and stay calm this time. Observe its moves and learn to punish its opening.
Simply entering the first Alatreon special assignment, "Blazing Black Twilight" unlocks a second Spec Assignment called "Dawn's Triumph". In this mission, Alatreon has a MASSIVELY nerfed health pool, something like only 30% of his normal. As long as you attack him like a rabid wild animal you can beat him before he gets more than one Judgement off.
THIS is the quest required to unlock Fatalis, the final Special Assignment of the game. In fact, completing Blazing Black Twilight does nothing except unlock the normal Alatreon event mission to replay.
And Alatreon gear is kinda just..... irrelevant? I think his weapons might technically be the best for Fatalis but since you're already MR91, Ruiner Nergigante weapons at MR100 are nearly just as good. He had the unfortunate timing of being released just before the final update, so he got powercrept nearly immediately. And once you start getting Fatalis gear, there's literally zero reason to use Alatreon gear over it because Fatalis is completely better on all fronts.
tl:dr
If you genuinely hate Alatreon, just skip to Dawn's Triumph, beat him, and then never fight him ever again.
1. Bring Temporal and Rocksteady Mantle. Use Rocksteady for Fire mode and Temporal for Dragon Mode to flinch shot. Take off your mantle as SOON AS IT RUNS OUT.
2. Bring materials to craft max potions mid fight in case you run out of healing (use the radial menu). You don't really have time to be chugging mega potions when you're fighting it solo.
3. Do not flinch shot it until it's in Dragon Mode (using the clutch claw slinger burst in Dragon Mode deals heavy damage to the horn). Don't try to flinch shot when it's standing on the ground, it's too inconsistent, use temporal mantle to knock it down it while it's flying. I suggest you use it after it does that attack where it tries to headbutt you twice while flying. This is the best opportunity to clutch claw. Focus on breaking the horn in dragon mode, best opportunity is after the slinger burst. Should be failry easy with GS.
4. The best opportunity to attack is during lightning attacks. Make sure you dodge first though if it's targetting you with the line attacks.
5. Don't forget to restock all your healing items and max potion materials if you do get carted.
6. Bring Blight Resistance 3 if you can. If you have dragonblight you stop doing elemental damage. Or bring Coalescence to gain a strong elemental damage buff whenever you recover from a blight.
I do agree with you, I don't like how Alatreon is designed as it's a race against the clock and the 50 minute timer doesn't even make sense. You have to kill it between the 3rd and 4th Eschaton Judgement or your chances will look pretty bleak... If you just have to beat the Dawn's Triump mission maybe I can help you? Feel free to add me.
The story quest end at lv200, there are some upgrade along the ways.
Char leveling is pretty fast, you will reach lv200 in a blink.
Alatreon is not normal monster, there is elemental damage check. If you can't do enough elemental damage, you will get 1 shot.
Go to the guinding lands and lure monsters to the coral region and to the volcanic region
by the time you get them both to lv6 you'll be mr99. Then fight nergi, lv up both regions to 7 and augment your GS for health regen and affinity
Alatreon has a lot of great openings for great sword. Dodge the attack 1st and attack later. With health regen augment alatreon becomes a TCS dream.
Like Cooked meat said, Frostfang barrioth + Velk armor is a good combination. For that one you need Scarred Garuga materials and it starts to appear at the forest lv 6 I think so lv up that region as well
Rank doesnt make you a better player
it is also one of the methods for easy cheese, nonstop smoke bomb usage and stickies, sb>one 4 shot clip stickies> another smokebomb, than simply cart to the judgement and restock your stickies
I totally agree. It doesn't automatically make you a better player when someone has a high rank BUT it is a good indicator about how long someone has been playing. I tend to trust people who are above 300 more than the sub-200 and respect who are 700 or above. Because they probably got the skill required to do harder challenges before getting their current ranks.
Also, the mention of rank is all about unlocking Guiding Lands regions and doing high-end Optional/Assignment quests. People above suggested OP to get to a higher rank so he can unlock and do, you know, rank-locked content like Ruiner Nergigante ("To the Very Ends with You" at MR99) or Tundra Region.
TL;DR: You either posted cheap bait or didn't read/understand what others mentioned about MR.
