Do Iceborne monsters have too much health?
Like every fight is a 30 minute slog consuming 20 mega potions, where base game tempered elders are like 5-10 minutes and 0-5 potions.

Play better.

No, you are just doing to little damage. Base game creatures had piss for health. There bulk, while a bit much, is much better then HR.

Iceborn is a G rank difficulty. You'll have to adapt to that by being a better player and using the right gear.

if you're just started out then it's normal because you still learning and you're gear still isn't the best

but once you reached the end game with best possible gear it shouldn't take more than 10 unless it's super hard fight or you really struggle against that specific monster

let say MR Kulve Taroth iirc he has around 50-58k hp in solo and i don't really have trouble killing her and i usually finish hunt within 12-14 minutes

or IB final boss he has around 35k or so hp in solo i can solo him consistently under 10 minutes even if i making mistakes and died once or twice

You're spending all your time chugging mega potions. 20 is way too much. You should rarely be using more than the maximum carry amount 10 if you're avoiding and dealing damage properly. There's more status ailments and speed focused monsters in Icebourne.

Also if you haven't, try different weapons.

Also Icebourne's gimmick is the clutch claw. You use it to increase your affinty (crit chance) by tendering and wounding parts and also to flinch it into a wall. Doing those things will greatly increase your damage which in turn decreases your hunt times. You should have gone through the tutorial for that but I thought I'd remind you.

like others said,play better
iceborne weapon has new moves and higher attack stats, which evened out the higher health
we cant give u advice, unless you give more specific infos on which parts u are having difficulty with

My average time is 10-15 minutes for Tempered elders in Iceborne.

Once you get endgame gear it more or less evens out.

This a set by Arekkz Gaming that I used for a good chunk of the early Iceborne storyline. It is very easy to make and it is pretty strong for the early game. I was stuck in the beginning too like you, doing crap damage and spending more time healing than attacking until I started using better gear, and generally getting used to the new mechanics.

Base tempered elders have the same HP as reg elders, the ones u need to compare them to is AT HR elders

30 minutes is abit slow and base game tempered elders were rarely 10 minute fights i'd say base game they just had too little HP

not too little HP (monsters in World had more health than in older games), it's the hunters who got powercreeped A LOT with World.

and that changes what exactly monsters still died too quickly im well aware the hunters got stronger one look at our skills compared to old games clears that up

more HP, more defense modifier, more agile, hit harder. obviously

edit: that flash immunity is annoying. even if they fall, they stand up almost immediately

Depends on how far you are in Iceborne, the gear you have access and your weapon.

I have lv5 bioms and kill these monster within 5-10 minutes, but story related beasts take me around 30-40 minutes.
"Across the lost Path" took me 28:50. I also got 1-shotted 2 times with my Kush armor and ~1k defense.

Iceborne (Master Rank) monsters are faster, have unpredictable movesets and a vast range to hit you, hit harder and they are able to drain you ressources.
