MR - Tigrex + Narga (M3*) & temp zin event quest (M6*)
And yes, I'm aware this is a winner thread >_>
That said, joining Silverlos/Goldian tempered investigations yields overall higher rank feystones (and can be faster with decent ranged weapon users), the Zinogre event ones are mostly rank 10 while those investigations drop a lot of Rank 11 feystones. This is the only realistic way of farming rank 12 jewels (the chance to get one is 1.2% per purple reward box on investigation with threat level 3).
Greatest Jagras is still the BY FAR fastest way to get vanilla jewels, if you don't kill it you are finished in ~3 minutes max. (wait for it to choke up 30 jewels which is the max, then leave)
If you kill it there's chance for higher rank vanilla jewels but to make this worthwhile you should not take longer than 5-6 minutes on quest incl. killing it.
Lavasioth I think has overall higher rank jewel drops but also takes longer than GJagras.
This is mostly correct but if you're going to farm vanilla jewels I'd just recommend doing Steamworks during an event. Steel Melding Tickets give you junk jewels and Silver Melding Tickets give you desirable ones, I have all the Attack Boost jewels I'll ever need thanks to it. It's much, much faster than Greatest Jagras or Name's Lavasioth and more reliable.
Gasp. Dude, I honestly never really noticed that 'Guild Alchemy' option before. I got like 140 silver melding tickets, converted 40 and woop, got another attack jewel, 2 guard jewels and stuff. Thanks for that super-useful advice :)
Thing is, they use the iceborne loot tables. So you won't get some of the rare/sought after vanilla jewels ( mighty bow, guard up etc.)
No problem, got those. Guard Up, Mighty Bow, Sharp, Mind's Eye.
It drops some 10 but not many.
edit:
I'm voting to remove and ban KO jewels from the game
