Check around Seliana for the excitable a-lister. He unlocks the wounded quest.
The fight hates shields. All the shield knockback values are disgustingly overtuned and there is no reason to invest a single point in guard. Use a different weapon.
This wall of text hurt...
Back to the subject : yeah, you didn't really search what to upgrade if you say you had tried everything.
- Level 10-13 is not the max level of armor nor the max def . One word : Augments.
Up level to 20, add ~20 def each part. (100 more def in total, play in staying alive longer)
Did you even tried the guidling land or searched it ? Your answer is there.
- Take better armors than rarity 11 armors, go for rarity 12 with better / more skills for your weapon (coz more def and better skills).
- Vitality mantle is ♥♥♥♥, one hit from Alatreon and your mantle is out.
Better go for Temporal mantle (dodge 5-6 hits before going down) + health booster if you want regen / rocksteady mantle if you want to survive a little bit more.
If you don't have it, go search on the wiki.
- Learn patterns
-For SOS, yeah sorry you had bad pickup, this happen. Better luck next time ?
- For decos, you don't really need to boost your elemental def, it's useless and use essential deco slots.
You need :
* evade window and evade distance, if you are taking damage too often (max level for easier dodge)
* health boost 3, for +50 health, helps a lot
* affinity skills (critical eyes, critical boost, agitator), to land more crits more powerfull and close the figh faster
* part breaker, to break things faster
* divine blessing, to take less damage occasionaly
* free meal, for 25% chance to not use item (you have more potions this way) + speed eater, to use potions faster
* some decos boosting your weapon elemental damage or a charm doing the same level 3/4
From your text I've got that you tried to break a horn. I also started this way, but it is the wrong approach. This happens because the NPC's talk a lot about his head so people think it is his only weak spot. Try simply to deal elemental damage, no need to focus on the head too much.
Alatreon forces the player to play very seriously, one can't continue casual play, this is the line.
Like others have said learning patterns and not getting hit is very important. It's good to learn all his moves, this will be quite tedious and it also takes a while for the brain to adapt, especially if you played the game just for fun, but it's worth it if you are having fun.
Alatreon and Fatalis were meant for people with MR100+, no idea why they put a MR24 req.
alatreon and fatalis are MH equivalent to raid bosses in other games, they require perfection from all 4 players. There's nothing more challenging.
if you cant beat it with 4 players, you can use a cat with plunderblade solo for these fights, though it takes a long time for parts, the blade will have success eventually if you're able to survive 50-60% of the monster hp stack.
but at this time, i recommend studying the alatron fight for a while first, watch some clears with different weapons and builds, and study 'pre-alatreon' build.
it takes practice, and patience, change and grow. build a new weapon. it take me at least 30 deaths to learn alatreon and another 30+ for fatalis. so dont feel bad, everyone else is getting bodied just as much as you, no question.
As for element, take your pick but I would not go in without at least 500 water, ice, dragon or lightning on your weapon. Any weapon with innate high element that is not sealed should work with a few element boost gems slotted (6 is ideal). Fire is not a good choice for the assignment quest.
* Also, you only need to beat the easier version of Alatreon to unlock Fatalis which should be cleared shortly after one Escaton Judgement wipe attack. If you are underleveled for Alatreon you are underleveled for Fatalis as well.
There is a timer going down for the judgement and if you waste too much time on doing silly things, it will wipe you because you failed to do enough elemental dmg to reduce the dmg of the judgement so you can survive it.
meanwhile people managed to kill him with blast weapons in solo while eated all 3 carts from the judgements through the help of the safeguard drink, which grants an extra cart
but you need to be good at what you are doing or the 4th judgement will simply wipe you out if you are too slow
The answer is simple there was no fatalis available as alatreon was released

@at op you shouldn't use sos system for these fights because you will only encounter more clueless rookies constantly failing
go with a premade team instead, best results if you seek for an alatreon session there should always be some high rank players be around in these sessions, who know how to fight it
the cheese strategies are hbg pierce3 usage or gunlance+ snowman (3gunlance guys +1range guy for easy sleep/para)
you could also try snowman + palico vulcan + ghilie mantle, but it is rough to coordinate, it needs some training

No helping it if you've made up your mind though, but this is one game where completion shouldn't be your penultimate goal imo. Heck start a second save file and go see how easy the early fights are for you now. It might make you feel better about how far you've come, you're still improving even if you feel like you've hit a wall, you just need to break through. That's the fun of it.
Stop and smell the wyverns.

For Alatreon I made extra a LBG set with Ala Bowgun:
Ice lvl 6
Fire lvl 4
Divine Blessing lvl 5
Weakness Exploit lvl 2
Pest Resistance lvl 3
Dodge lvl 3
Dodge Distance lvl 3
Speed Eating lvl 3
Free Meal lvl 2
Crit Eye lvl 2
Claw Boost lvl 1
Inner Eye / Ballistics lvl 1* (*not sure whether it really does something, though)
My hope was to stop Alatreon from doing killing-nukes, but it somehow doesn't matter at all or at least not enough. Augmented the Ala Bowgun 1 level for elemental damage. More is simply not possible, cause I don't get the materials for it.
In addition:
I don't even see, when which element matters in case of Alatreon. There's no real indicator. No burning, no color or anything which let's you guess which element would matter. Same goes for the dmg-output of elemental ammunition: you don't see it by going through all elements on Alatreon. There's no real... dmg-peak which indicates... "this element might be useful!"
From that point of view... if other people wouldn't state that Alatreon is "ok", then I'd define Alatreon as bugged... and it's rather that some very few people know a "work-around" for that special game bug. Just thinking.
