Do you need KT weapons?
I have a question about MH:W, and maybe it works for others since there are some RNG weapons you can get (Kulve Taroth in MH:W for example), can you do it good without having those weapons? I'm with a friend and he's new to MH and he likes to craft weapons instead of hoping for a good one to drop. Can you do endgame content nicely with typical monsters weapons?
It's been a while since I played this game so I don't really know how is the game rn. Thanks for answering :)

Yes, there are alternatives for all weapons, so your friend should be able to do endgame content with ease.

KT weapons are only used in a few specific weapon types and monster matchups, and that's just when you want to min-max everything. You can absolutely skip KT entirely and have strong gear, especially if your weapon focuses on raw damage instead of elements.

maybe if you play db or bow, kjarr good for element I think but not necessary.

You can still do great without them in base game.

Thanks for the fast replies :D, it's great then, since we are playing more like chilling out and I was worried about having to hard camp KT when she appears.
Cheers! And have a nice hunt!

No worries! Enjoy the game and take your time with the gear as well.

Also the Hunting Horn to a somewhat lesser degree, especially the Kjarr Pipe "Dragon" with it's Elemental Attack Boost

Iv been dabbling with the hunting horn recently actually, I mean I suck with it, but its one of those weapons that I think actually takes some skill and practice to do well with. I'm in two minds whether I'll just stick to hammer, or take up the horn as a secondary weapon.

Join the Doots side. We have sick beats. Many different kinds of them.

...that said the hammer's still damn fun especially with it's Clutch Claw mechanic of being able to pull a Midair Spinning Bludgeon from anywhere now geezes

Nope, you can finish the game just the way it was made. KT weapons are more of a weapon to flex to others in my opinion. But don't get me wrong, they are strong!

KT weapons are the strongest ones for most if not all weapon classes but they are by no means required to tackle endgame content. I never used them myself and I only played the siege like 4 times maybe. Wasn't a fan of the RNG either.

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: It depends, some of the KT weapons are still pretty high-end and viable in the endgame. They can carry you if you know how to build them and they are a solid step before getting certain Safi weaponry. Some KT weapons are still meta, to add.

In conclusion, it's not urgent BUT it will help a lot.

Just make sure you pick the right/actually useful ones because the loot table is convulated trash from a distance. Off the top of my head, I can remember that any non-Kjarr weapon is useless, and SOME Kjarr ones are also useless so you might want to check a list of some sort.

As a db main, they make things so much easier. Kjarr allows greater armor flexibility which in turn allows more slots. Kjarr (unsure of the others) weapons also have custom upgrades. For elementals, they're just too good. Basically, Kjarr lets you have your cake and eat it.
