Is there a good site with builds/ guides that are not outdated? Like how do you guys usually figure out what gear you need? So far I've just mixed and matched whatever looks good to me but I'm not sure if I nerfed myself by not being more optimal.

The best build planner no longer exists, and all the old base game builds are pretty much obsolete now, because of what IB did to the base game.

Basically, if you want to use the best base game build, use something like Drachen armor paired with a Lunastra chest (or something similar) with the Defender/Guardian weapons.

For IB use Fatalis gear for most weapons.

For skills, your best bet is to get weapon specific skills (like focus for GS, or Guard for Lance) then get crit boost 3, and get focus on getting as close to 100% crit chance as you can. If you manage that, just add whatever else you think works best on top of it.

Those builds kind of suck, TBH. Like there is no point for a base game only build to rely that heavily on Agitator.

Agitator was never big in the base game for a reason. It is only active when the monster is enraged, which you can not control.

Agitator only became meta in IB because you could use the Clutch Claw to force the monster into an enraged state whenever you wanted. However, if you only have the base game, aka don't have Iceborne, then you don't have access to the CC.

So whoever made those builds is just parroting what they have seen other people do, without understanding why those people were doing it.

Alright, thanks for the advice, pre Ib stuff was kinda nobrain for me bc I played the base game back in the ps4 days. I was mostly confused about Ib late game gearing bc there are so many options (well pre fatalis, bc from what i see from then it's all fatalis gear)

you have internet? google, youtube and reddit or any forum that you can post something. the game is old very old. all the possible build has been shared. just google it.

you have internet? google, youtube and reddit or any forum that you can post something. the game is old very old. all the possible build has been shared. just google it.

Sure, the question was I want to avoid outdated/ bad builds and thought I'd ask if people have specific websites they go to for builds. Anyways thanks for your valuable advice of "just google"

dude there no more outdated build coz the game is done no more update and most of the build you will see on the internet its rather a meta build or a speedrun build. and if you're looking for something specific you just have too deep dive its there.

what build are you looking for i can google it post the site or link. build making in this game has same concept on all weapon, crit chance, dps, and survivability/utility

Well in base world Peak Performance with Health augment was like the best on most builds with few exceptions
