Iceborne Performance 2023/2024
Heya, I'm still deciding on wether or not I should get Iceborne before the sale ends tomorrow, but reading the reviews had me worried a bit? Yeah I know it had a ♥♥♥♥ launch and got review bombed for it and it's definitely better now (aside from apparently clutch claw and annoying endgame mosters but I'm patient, I can deal with those).

Nah the thing that got me worried is that apparently the game had wild performance issues as well, and my laptop isn't exactly a top of the line gaming laptop (Lenovo Ideapad s145), hell I'm surprised base World worked in it at all (without the HD graphics but still, idc for it if the gameplay is good), so I wanted to ask if it got fixed between then and now? Or at least significantly better?

If base World doesn't work for you, then Iceborne won't. If it does, then you'll be fine. It's that simple.

Performance was fixed a long time ago but people don't bother revising reviews, as Maulclaw said Iceborne changes nothing, load up the base game and do a few hunts and if you're satisfied then get iceborne.

Thanks, I'll probably get it then. I've wanted to play MH for years and aside from playing Rise once on a friend's console, I never managed to get it. Buying it now was a shot in the dark that actually paid off in the end.

I've been playing for three or so days actually, only problem that I had were a few stutters if there were too many things happening in the screen at once (worse was during an Anjanath fight in the rain in the middle of a lot of other small monsters and then when a Rathian attacked it, as soon as we moved it was fine) and that the audio gets waaaay delayed on some cutscenes. Game plays fine most of the time outisde of that, which is why I want to get Iceborn while it's on a pretty good sale.

Also it's still pretty early so if my save glitches I won't lose hundreds of hours, just about twelve lol.

I actually used to run Iceborne just fine in 30fps mode at 720p on my Ryzen 2200g with no GPU in the system, though it should be noted that it runs equivalent to a GTX 1030 Nvidia GPU with about 6GBs of VRAM on my system.

Depending on whether or not you are playing the game in DX11 mode (you can see it from the start menu > options), there's actually a performance mod that you can grab if your Windows OS is up-to-date with the latest Visual Studio redists that severely fixes CPU hitching. You can probably push some more frames on an AMD GPU system with the Fidelity setting active.

For those of us with RTX systems that have access to DX12, the DLSS +0.4 mode is letting my RTX 3060Ti run this buttery smooth at 1620p with all of the settings maxed. Just stay away from the Hires 4K tex pack (it's pretty much for the streamers with the god-systems) if you want to eliminate ALL hitching and keep your cosmetic mods stable.

I'm very impressed with the game's state right now, and the longer you wait to grab Iceborne, the longer it will take for you to integrate the new movesets that Iceborne added into your rotation.

There are no particular performance problems with Iceborne, but it is more demanding in the snow areas. You might have to turn down the Snow Quality or other settings even more.

I've never experienced the save bug(s) but it's worth backing up your saves before you add DLC or update any game.

I am running it a 4k max everything with a 13700k and a 3070 and I get a stable 80-90 and never see big dips. I didn't play at launch so I don't know about back then but you didn't even post PC specs. How can we tell you anything without that?

i currently am having problems in the first area alone. My fps are being constantly hit with stutters and dropping out of nowhere all the time.
