If you are gonna buy only one, I recommend Elden Ring. I did 100% there but I don’t have the thousands of hours I have on mhw.

The lore, the universe, the exploration are things you won’t find here. Monster Hunter World has a pretty simple story and the reason you explore maps are mostly for gathering materials (there are some poor attempts to have exploration but I hope they are better executed in Wilds).

There are some amazingly pretty spots hidden in the mhw maps but the game is not designed (and doesn’t expect) players to explore. You are much more rewarded on Elden Ring regarding that.

The reason why I play mhw more is just my personal taste. The mechanics might look similar if you watch videos but when you play it’s a very different feel. There is very little knowledge from one game you can apply to the other (better not even try and start each game with an open mind).

- I don’t like games that control combat pace with stamina bars. I find mhw more tolerable because most your attacks don’t consume stamina. A few mhw weapons do and that’s why I don’t use them often although they are pretty great.
- you have more variation of weapons, spells and powers on elden ring (some are really really fun) but I prefer the weapon complexity of monster hunter combat
- Elden Ring bosses are interesting fights stuck at their boss rooms while monster hunter tries to make monsters feel like living beings (they go around the map, eat and stuff). You might even face 2-3 monsters at the same time in some situations, by accident or maybe because you lured them (there are a few boss rooms in mhw though)
- i like how easy I can respec in mhw (I just forge and change gear, done)
- getting gear on elden ring might be easier since they are enemy drops while mhw you get materials
- I don’t do pvp which would be another selling point for elden ring

Mario vs COD basically what your saying

I played both and although elden ring is fun it's just a story game you get into it or not. Monster hunter is a grindy game. You hope in a hunt beat the devil out of a monster and make a new weapon to beat the devil out of someone else. there's no "exploration" like elden ring.

Me personally i would recommend both games. But i wouldn't recommend Elden ring over monster hunter as elden ring is too finite of an experience. So if you can only choose one and you like both styles of games like me, i would suggest monster hunter as it's a more compelling long therm experience.

Not really, MH and Elden Ring are closer in similarities than those two. Id say its more like Halo vs CoD. similar game play, but different from one another.

ass, you will probably want to rebind some things. Hopefully they nail keyboard controls in wilds, but i doubt it.

Serviceable, if you adjust them. I mean, I played for 1500 odd hours without using my controller, so I think they work fine.

Elden ring is more fun to me personally in every way.
This game is pretty good though as well, I'd say play this now as it's pretty damn active currently and later Elden ring when the DLC comes out.

both are great, get both if you can. and I agree that the gameplay are a little bit similar. I mean both are slow paced games focused on finding windows to attack.

I use kb/m for both World and Rise and it's fine. No problem at all.

Elden Ring without question. Every area, enemy and weapon is unique. This game is just a tedious grind where you farm the same exact monsters for weapons and armor sets that you have already crafted three times now at low, high and max rank. Gets tiring after the first week.
