Element VS Fatalis Raw
Are there any weapons where element is more beneficial than raw, and if so, by how great a margin?

Rule of thumb is quick weapons get more damage from elemental as it’s a flat increase per hit. (Unless exceptions)

Monster part weakness to element will also affect how good element is to that monster.

Zinogre is pretty strong against elements when not charged for instance. The monster hunter notes in game is much better in rise than world but unfortunately they are not a perfect match.

You can find monster hunter world tables on the internet or discord channels where you can get accurate information about the weaknesses.

This channel used to have some pretty good videos if you want to go deep, although sometimes they also made mistakes.

What qualifies as "fast"? What would you consider the cut off where element stops being worth it

DB, BOW, LBG and some SD builds. Quick attacks with low MV values. The video explains much better than I could do in text here but it will be outdated on builds. They have many more videos going over the details behind this recommendation

Depends on situation. For most monsters, you can just unga bunga your way with Raw. Some basically require you to use an element, though. One "literally" does, in fact. Alatreon is probably a pain in the ass to deal with if you aren't matching its current elemental weakness.

The weapons I know of that are usually the cornerstone of "elemental builds" are Dual Blades, Bow and maybe longsword.

The cap on elemental damage is pretty high, and you can basically max out all the skills you need when you have the Fatalis armor. I don't know what the cap is, but I run 700-something element on some builds with just the respective elemental skill and the weapon itself.

Longsword is purely raw-focused. Spirit gauge levels only buff raw damage output, plus ISS & SHB get additional raw damage on higher levels.

CB's actually great when it comes to elemental builds... Assuming you can get kjarrs. Otherwise raw's better.
