even without mods, it is VERY easy to use video editing to make a game look terrible or like it has something ridiculous in it. Are companies going to start going after any random video that could possibly be "misleading" and "damaging to their IP"? because in that case, i think they just found a fantastic new way to get rid of reviews they don't like.
Reviews have special fair use protections.

it's a single player game in most part so I don't see why they wanna get rid of mods/cheat, well, I for one will pirate the f out of MH6 if they really do that lol.

There are HOW MANY paid DLC skins are there for the Handler alone?
Like... Half a dozen? Where is the competition, if I may ask? Most cosmetic mods are for the player. Not the Handler. In fact, one of the mods I listed that is about her looks only enhances her face textures and makeup, without changing her outfit.

It matters a lot to companies. Look how Nintendo treats adult content using their characters. Look at how the owners of Tomb Raider came down on adult content using Laura Croft around the time the second Tomb Raider movie released. Even Team Darkside, after getting copyright struck by Capcom for their modded videos, acknowledged that they could understand why Capcom would take actions against mods that hurt Capcom's reputation, aka lewd mods.

Nintendo is a special case. They are extremely territorial no matter how or what is shown about their content. It has nothing to do with the nature of presentation, because they wouldn't have struck down regular gameplay and OST videos then. They would only target sexual content.

Sexual content mods can not put a dent in the reputation of any publisher or developer, and you can't convince me otherwise. You can blame the tool as much as you want, but the core idea is the same. I said it twice so far, and this will be the third time. Blame the user, not the tool. I bet it's people who share the same mindset as you that got guns banned in some countries and caused the knife crimes to skyrocket by like 800% or something. Banning something never works. People just find another way. Rules are for the honest man, not the folk who never cared about them in the first place. We already have enough high-impact real-life examples.

Keep in mind, I said "cosmetic + cheese" = over xx%. This is a combination, a rough estimate, and there will be some wiggle room based on what each of us consider cheese. For example, a lot of people who cheat will claim that putting all items in the shop is just "a quality of life" improvement, but it is nothing more than a grind cheese.
Fair point. I started counting like half an hour ago and the percentage is accurate so far.

However, it's questionable if it's actually cheating or QoL if you have been grinding for something for 200+ hours and the game has no failsafes by design for you to obtain it otherwise*. At that point, how long would anyone waste time further? Do you expect everyone to spend the better half of their lives to get some jewel? As I told my story earlier, the most fun I had was when I no longer had to grind for consumables and decorations in the base game. Sure, some people maybe extend it to 1-2% drops from monsters. I had 700-something hours at the time. Surely, I did earn the right to access the game's content, no?

All I can blame here are the stupid mod users (and/or cheaters), and the developers for making bad RNG systems. The companies who made the game or the authors who made the mods are not at fault. As I said like 3 times before, a knife can be a great tool or be used for murder, but you can not blame the knife or the blacksmith for the crimes someone else committed.

*I'm not talking about MMOs or games that intentionally have open-ended grinding due to open-ended progression

HAHAHAHAHA. Now, that's hilarious. You actually think that? Never heard of Valve removing negative reviews because of "review bombing"? I bet you actually believe in review bombing, too, while it's all honest reactions from the playerbase to a bad decision made by the publisher or developer.

You don't have free speech in a private platform. You never had it in the first place. That's why they can ban you for trivial reasons on social media platforms. Especially if you are saying things that are not liked by the big shots above.

Remember, when it comes to corporations, slippery slope isn't a fallacy - it's a business strategy.

"it affects multiplayer" -another BS argument. Plenty of games in the past have allowed mods offline but not online. Plenty have even allowed cosmetic mods online, but not those that actually affect gameplay. Even MMORPGs like black desert online are like this. Getting rid of mods also wouldn't stop hackers in the slightest. Adding a functional anti cheat system would objectively be a better solution.
probly would its capcom they already are doing it but i suspect its more the nsfw stuff they want gone

Had quite the number of runs of kulve last night were people were just bluntly cheating. It's not even hard and people were just cheating through it for multiple runs.

how where they cheating?

One hit breaks parts, its pretty noticeable. Especially in the second section where kulve will dive and repair his broken parts, if you break too many things.

In a game where I've seen legit one-hit kills of the Kulve Taroth, I find one-hit breaking parts hardly represents evidence of foul play.

I wonder if any of them, both the company and anti modders here, ever heard of the term "Rule 34"?
Cuz the saying is "if it exists, THAT also exists" 🤣🤣🤣

Literally impossible to one hit kill kulve.
