I.E:
Think like Terraria accessories where you just combine stuff together until you get the benefits of more inventory space, etc. It's always a neat system to me, gives you a kind of progression you can work towards and look forward to completing.
I'd still have them provide the exact same amount of Attack and Defence as your traditional Talon + Charm combo, the only benefit would be saving 2-3 inventory spaces.
If you "never need to plan around it" why are you asking for it to be changed? It's either a problem for you, or it isn't, and if your reasoning is "but it isn't a problem for me, and THAT'S an issue", why are you asking for it to be made even more inconsequential?
IMO the talons/charms are fine where they are, at most I might've liked a non-stacking upgrade for the armor ones (so a Talon+ and Charm+) to keep them in line with MR armor ratings.
Yes, it does consume inventory slots, that's the downside of using the items. If anything I'd quite like more items like them that have passive effects in the inventory, (eg. items that provide +1 to tremor resist, windproof, and earplugs that don't stack with themselves) as MHW's items aren't quite handy enough to properly fill my inventory even when I'm massively over-prepared.
