Has Icebourne been fixed?
Just look at the Steam page for it, and the reviews are still mixed. A lot of people saying it's broken AF. Is it fixed and worth a buy yet?

Reviews are outdated. The optimization is nowhere near great, but it's definitely not as bad as it was at launch.

Most of the issues they complained about have been addressed and they are either too lazy to update it or just didn't care about it.

It's definitely worth your time if you enjoyed base World. Go on, chief.

Garbage balance. Monsters has zero openings and atack you nonstop. You either play with cheats (like 99% of pc community or you have to play with long sword)
About performance, I played through most of base World and Iceborn at 1080p with a rx580 paired with a r5 2600 and got a stable 60 most of the time. In some chaotic fights (Teostra, and Velkhana) fps would drop to the low 50s but it was somewhat rare outside of those two battles. The 580 and 2600 are going to be 5 yrs old now so If you have anything more recent then you'll be fine playing this.

as for the mods others above me have mentioned they're called "Stracker's Loader" and "Performance Booster and Plugin Extender" you can get them from nexusmods. There is "Tic rate fix" a third mod that some people say is necessary but idk every time I loaded it my game would instantly crash so maybe that one is just busted or there's something else that overtook it's place.

Honestly, I got it as soon as it was released on PC and never noticed whatever issues people have always complained about with it. Iceborn is and always has been fine for me. Always seemed like fake news, probably mostly made up by the crowd that is now migrated over to MHR.

Ah, yes, the classic 2020 reviews striking back again. I wonder if we'll see posts like these a decade later due to the exact same reviews causing people to have doubts.

Optimization was always questionable, and it still is. Game is flat out not optimized, and if you've been having issues running the base game, you'll be having issues in Iceborne content too. However, all the main problems that caused a "review-bombing" at release (which caused Iceborne to permanently get Mixed reviews) are gone one way or another. They were either fixed or can be taken care of via mods.

The recent reviews are not helpful either. People complaining about stuff due to their own lack of skill is pretty much the norm. I guess you can't please everyone, but I don't think you should be paying attention to shallow reviews that boil down to "I'm unwilling to learn and improve, so I blame the game for my failures." or whatever is of the same flavor.

Older reviews like save deletion and issues with the control scheme are not relevant anymore, since those are the ones that get read a lot despite being from like 2021 or earlier. Long story short, stop reading 2-3 year old reviews that never got updated to reflect the reality, probably because whoever reviewed it doesn't even care anymore (if they are even alive).

About the save concerns: You can always back your save up yourself, whether you trust Steam Cloud or not. I never understood why people don't have a save backup of games they played for hundreds of hours and expect some "infallible" system in some unknown location to keep their progress safe. Well, guess what, you silly goobers! Data can get corrupted, servers can fail and your thousands of hours can be wiped easily, so always have a save backup for games where you can't afford to lose your progress in.

TL;DR: Very few of the negative reviews you can access right now contains legitimate reasons to not recommend Iceborne. You can buy it without any doubts if you liked the base game and want to play more.

I dont know what people are talking about with "Not Optimized" I could play this game on high settings (excluding Fog) on 1080p never dropping below 60fps with a gtx 1060

This has been 'really' helpful! Thanks everyone! I'll be sure to grab a copy then!
Just so I know, will be dropped into Icebourne right away? Also, can I go back to Astera once I do start Icebourne? I've completed the base story, but have lots of weapons and such I still want to get

Hi nerg, sucks to fight a lance doesn't it? Try taking on easier quests like bows or dual blade users.

You don't get dropped into it instantly, I think. You can wait as long as you want.

I recommend wrapping up stuff in the base game before proceeding. You don't need to grind for weapons or armor unless you really want to, but you should definitely get mantles and canteen materials before moving on. Basically, do all Optional and Event quests at least once and you should be set for Iceborne. Mind that some canteen materials are plants you have to gather, and only appear during specific upsurges on specific maps.

I hope you enjoy it! Good luck out there!

You can skip base game with defender armor/weapons, that way you won't have to craft anything that takes alot of farming.
