As a fellow dooter:

Slugger's only really worth it if you're crazy enough to do the math and figure out "yes, with +1 slugger I will get 1 more KO against this monster". Generally speaking you'll get more out of using generic skills than you will Slugger, as it's unlikely one level will make the difference between additional KOs.

Stamina Thief should only be used in meme builds. Not to decry meme builds, they're great, Stamina Thief is for those.

Stamina Thief yes, Slugger no, if I recall. Hunting Horns do more stamina draining than KO damage, or something like that. You kick the horn into a monsters face and it gets very hungry or something, I guess.

I'd put Slugger on a Hammer, and wouldn't even bother putting Stamina Thief on a Hunting Horn but if you had to then yeah. Stuns are more for Impact Mantle, Hammers and Bows.

Could always go with the classic "Why not both?" approach though.

Slugger is never worth it on any weapon, due to how status scaling works. 40% more stun doesn't mean you will stun the monster 40% more times. It means you will get to the next stun 40% faster. It's possible that, in a specific scenario when you are just shy of a stun, that Slugger would give you an extra stun per combat. But in most if not all fights, you will still end up with the same amount of stuns.

Stamina thief is in a similar camp. Since it's so easy to enrage monster right now, do you really care about exhausting them faster? And if that's the case, do you really want to waste your skill slots on something that you will almost never get any use out of? It's the same as with slugger, the benefit is not big enough to justify skill slots.

Yeah Slugger, especially Slugger 5, works best in solo or duo situations. The monster won't have enough HP to withstand the 2-4 stuns you'll get in a single fight, so the resistance increases are less of an issue there. Try taking it into multiplayer with 3-4 people though and the usual thing happens where you burn through your stuns / other effects very quickly into the initial fight and then the rest of the fight is an efficient mess with the monster having free roam to wreck you, etc

It's a shame because now Maximum Might [kinda] sucks I went for Slugger 5 hoping it would make it better than it was in the base game, but it's not much better at all, except maybe I pull off a third stun from time to time etc. Maybe if Nergigante's set is any good I can try some Agitator shenanigans.

Idk much about damage output and those stuff but i think slugger would be useful in multiplayer, yes the KO increases each time but i guess it would help your teammates during the hunt

Pretty much what you expect. A silly build that is not very good, but still does something interesting. Examples:

- Aerial Insect Glaive
- Sleep Great Sword
- Sleep bombing (RIP)
- Pokemon trainer
- Slinger shotgun
- Max defence/regen
- And so on...

There're a lot of those, they are fun to play but usually not very effective.

Although I guess becoming Havel the Rock has its own advantages, and insofar as memes go it's not a very silly or interesting one.

At this point it may as well be anything that doesn't kowtow to the meta, though, but for the most part it's just some weird unusual trick. Can be fun in groups, I.E four people using Apothecary mantles and Blast weapon + armour set, etc.

A buddy of mine had a Tank GL mix where a Ruiner hit him with the super slam attack, and did only a 16th of his HP, its insane

Was that with or without Divine Blessing, direct hit or shielded? Because that sounds great, lol. I was borderline 900 defence when fighting him and most of his attacks would reduce my health to about 33% from full HP. It was painful!
