-The game is nowhere near where it used to be in player count, but it still has a community.
-The game can be solo'd if you want to. It may be recommended to have a partner for the End-End game.
-I recommend you buy the Iceborne DLC just because it'd be cheaper to buy it rn. The Iceborne DLC is basically adding another game ontop of Monster Hunter: World.
You absolutely can. Everything with the exception of a few endgame fights are scaled for solo play, you can even do them solo if you desire. Doesn't mean they are impossible, it will just be tedious.
Iceborne is absolutely worth the price, but i only recommend it if you enjoyed the base game. Don't want you to rush the game to get to the DLC. That means you didn't even enjoy it in the first place. This isn't an MMO where you rush to where the other players are to catch up. Take your time playing it and make your money worth your time spent.
I highly recommend you to ignore anything Guardian/Defender related, they teach you bad habits during your first playthrough. Especially if you are new to the series. The normal progression can help you understand the game at the usual pace.
It will also help you enjoy the game. Why would you not try to enjoy content you paid for? Hope you enjoy it OP.
you can solo it, yes. just dont create an online session when you start, and if you do, just set it to session ID only and dont give anyone the id, or use an SOS flare.
i believe a balance patch was released to scale some of the 'raid' style fights to solo scale, so if you're good enough you can do it.
just keep in mind 'HR' and 'MR' have no bearing on how good a player is, it just tracks how many hunts youve done, and what endgame hunts you can access.
The other fights? They haven't been scaled at all. The patch was only for the Iceborne siege.
true story, i wouldn't want to solo safi, couple hours just to drain energy? no thanks!
but op looks keen on it. solo safi speed runner in the making.
Although I bought iceborne at launch, I shelved MHW for about 2 years before playing Iceborne again in 2022. Had a blast playing.
Was able to find ppl to run Safi sieges quite easily (but obviously not as many games as during launch for Extremoth and HR Kulve Torath sieges). I personally ran multiplayer for the missions that I used to farmed decorations just for efficiency (Day of Ruin, Mew are Number One!). But I still solo'ed other fights. Up to now, I still have not done multiplayer for Fatalis and Alatreon.
So yes, still a decent game to play in 2022. MHR Sunbreak is out soon so expect a drop in userbase. But depending on how sticky Sunbreak is this time, userbase might decide to return to IB.
If you wanna give it a go it's no nexus.
There are a few quests/monsters that aren't meant to be soloed and aren't scaled for solo play, but that doesn't mean they're impossible to solo. Otherwise, the vast majority of the game's content can be comfortably soloed.
I highly recommend you pick it up along with the base game (buy the Iceborne Master Edition). Iceborne adds so much content to the base game that I'd only recommend you get the base game without the expansion if you're not sure you're going to stick with Monster Hunter: World. The Iceborne Master Edition (the edition without the cosmetics) is the best value in my opinion.
did not see any update bout this ?
thx !
right now you have access to all the event quests other than the raid bosses which cycle on a two week rotation.
the only thing your missing is some old event quests that rewarded a mantle and a skin which are no longer available. but for general play they are not that good.
and mostly. multiplayer you have less players overall, but when you do get someone generally they know what they are doing. not always, but its a way better chance of getting people who don't insta cart.
overall, the game has been much nicer to play because of the unlocked event quests alone than when I played it before. which I played back when there was only high rank. so been around a while.
TL;DR Monster hunter good, go bonk monster, yes.
New player here and I love it!
