Why are there so many bad reviews?
First: I love monster Hunter but never had a good computer, playstation or xbox. I know I will love this one too, but it's kinda weird how many bad reviews there are.
Sooo in what state is the game currently?

There really aren't that many bad reviews at all...but if you click to bad reviews, you can see why. Mostly it is chalked down to performance when it came out (it was REALLY bad), Denuvo (which makes performance even worse) and tons of bugs and connection issues. Most if not all of them are gone now though, but that doesn't mean people actually have the patience or memory to go back and alter the reviews based on that.

In fact, if you filter to negative reviews, most of the people who made them went on to get 300 or 2k+ hours on the game. lol

It's fine for the most part.

Recent reviews are 92% positive. A lot of the previous negative reviews have been review bombs for either petty or absurd reasons.

Like a review bomb from the chinese community because of a bad joke.

A bad joke in the monster hunter MOVIE. Y'know, that thing that isn't this game.

Others have been because later monster additions were difficult. No, I'm not joking.

If you liked previous monster hunter games, you'll most likely enjoy this. Just give it a go. And if the cutscenes bother you too much, there's a mod on nexusmods to enable skipping most of them.

thanks for the clarification!
yeah I saw the bad release reviews and a lot of signs I couldn't read, so it sound exactly like the things you told me just now.

well. guess I'm going to waist a lot of time in the futur again XD

Are you talking about the "mixed" reviews on Iceborn, the DLC for Monster Hunter World?
If so, the reason is because of what the reviews say. A lot of people had issue with it at the beginning, but Capcom has since fixed most if not all of those issues. Now I haven't played Iceborne myself, but I have paid close attention to it. That's my take on this subject for you.

So many? 85% of overall reviews are positive and if I had to get a lot of the 15% negative were because of early performance issues or denuvo hate.

Can you still refund the game after modding it?
Cuz i srsly want OP to just be able to skip the cutscenes if they want to, that way OP can figure out whether or not they want to continue the game.

Why would it? Its a 2 hour play time window to auto refund.

2 hours isn't enough for MHW

I mean about modding voiding a refund.

...why would it? It's not like the game has some form of anti-cheat or anything.

That's my question, Popcorn phrased it like getting the skip cut scenes mod would not let them refund it.

Well, I wasn't sure.
Who knows what happens.

Yeah, not sure why they said that.

Steam's refunds are pretty much entirely based on time. Modding wouldn't affect anything.

Alright.
Then go on OP, mod the skip cutscenes so you can enjoy the game more.
You can always watch it later in the main menu if you choose to do so

Alternatively OP can just try the Monster Hunter Rise demo for free and see if they enjoy the base game play.
