Your processor is the bottleneck but is a software issue mostly; the game isn`t too optimised as Ashen said, but the main culprit is that capcom messed up his anticheat or something along the lines of "reading bytes of memory", so it's essentially using CPU power for... nothing really...
Use this: https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterworld/mods/3473
it should reduce the cpu usage.
The CRC check Asterisk and Moonbunnie's mod fixes is a different issue.
I just saw a thread yesterday about how back when the Iceborne update came out, the settings got messed up and people had to manually set it to lower settings then back up so everything was corrected, it might be worth trying to manually go through the settings and set them again.
My r7 2700x heats up the entire room, although not at 100% I do see peaks when playin with others. E.g. chasing raging bary in guided lands. 4 players.
The game being unoptimised doesn't help either, I know.
Notable mods that can enhance performance would be:
Stracker's Loader (required for the next mod)
Performance Booster
Reduce or Remove Bloom
EFX Nuke
Any (and all) "removes fog" mod
You can find the mods in Nexus (and the in guide below). For an easier time, I can recommend you this guide about modding: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2359218616
Probably whatever you changed on April 19th. New drivers? AV update? Install something new?
Tried most of this and turned down settings even further but I'm still getting crashes, to the point where my graphics card almost shuts down.
You would assume that but it's only happening with MHW, and I never had these issues when I played the game last year.
Our point is, there wasn't any major change within the game that suddenly made it unplayable for people who have a weaker PC than you, so something must be up at your end.
If your graphics card almost shuts down, there's DEFINITELY something wrong on your end, and most likely not within the game.
