First, many would point you to nexus mods.
Second, no idea.
Third, no
Fourth, idk, some have had their data corrupted to an extent from being unable to play (black screens and what not) to losing their entire save data (though most is due to not playing for a long time)

The data corruption had nothing to do with mods.

That was capcom changing the save format at several points and the game not being able to properly read really early save files that didn't get the updates along the way.

The black screen/crash crap from the Vaal armor also wasn't exactly the mods fault. That was capcom getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and removing content from the game files because people accessed it sooner than they wanted.

Removed data=crash when the game tries to access it.

  • You have to download them from nexus or make your own.
  • Installing them is simple, you just create a folder called Nativepc and drop the mods there.
  • Mods like clothing, hairstyles, monsters and re-textures, are not considered cheats.
  • There's also one-hit kill weapons, buying decorations or having access to rare materials without hunting, those are cheats.
  • I would say, zero risk if you use simple cosmetics.
Some players got their save file corrupted a long time ago, but that was because they were adding a ticket that unlocked a layered armor that was going to be released in a future update, because they were impatient their save files got corrupted once the update came. The fix was quite simple as all they had to do was go offline and delete it. Just stay away from cheat mods and you'll be fine.

Yeah, also, I would really point out two mods that made the game mo enjoyable to me:

https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterworld/mods/1703

https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterworld/mods/2036

Those two wil make a huge difference while playing. Read their description and instructions about how to install. Pretty easy.

There's also another mod that I'd like to recomend, the autofertilizer for QoL:

https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterworld/mods/3626
Just put it there and check once in a while to see what to farm next lol

My nativePC folder is 958mb lol

Regarding cloting, I only used one to remove capes from some armors. Most of the clothing on nexus are stuff to reveal skin of the huntress by removing pieces of the armors we have, and that does not appeals to me anymore.

Feel free to use visual mods, changing model mods, but some mods let you gain special items not by game progression, may corrupt your save game.

No. They won't. Stop spreading misinformation.

any purely visual mods tend to be fine

it's only the 'large' mods that really have a chance to mess something up, like the custom monster mods (as an example) that add more attacks and such to existing monsters, or ones that edit quests or change the loot tables or something. etc. etc.

visual mods don't affect other people either / cause things like glitches or something, either for you or others. And people don't care what mods you use as long as they can't notice it in their own games, so.. yeah

As others have said:

1. Download Vortex from Nexusmods, that'll allow you to download and install clothing mods (and most other mods) without needing to manually install anything.
- (Make sure you follow instructions and get Strackers Loader and any other pre-requisite mods for whatever you're trying to download.)

2. Clothing mods aren't counted as cheating, no. Most of them are client side, meaning you're the only one that sees the modded clothing.

3. Most mods aren't dangerous for your PC, but there are mods out there that can break your save if uninstalled / installed incorrectly. Almost every single mod out there comes with a disclaimer that even though the mod itself is as harmless as it can be, players should always, always, ALWAYS back up their save before installing or uninstalling mods. I typically back up my save after every session I play, just as a precaution.

Unless they got the same mod iirc, they cant

I actually have a guide on modding here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2359218616

Read the introduction and get the essentials. Those should be enough for just visual mods.

The sheer amount of clothing/model swap mods are way too many so I didn't list them though. You have to dig Nexus to find what you like.

Also, don't use Vortex. Get MHW Mod Manager (in Nexus). I heard that Vortex causes more problems than it does good (like how it messes up the non-existent load order of mods and causes crashes because of it). Installing mods via Mod Manager is better than risking crashes.

All mods are client-side and won't affect other people unless the mod is designed to do so in some way. For example, there is a mod that doubles wound time. It affects the hunt itself if you host the hunt yourself with that mod. So that mod can affect other people, though they will likely not notice if they aren't observant.

No, only visual mods (transmog) are safe. There are people complained about corrupted save game after removed mods, it is rare, but existing. Many mod makers notice user to backup save game in their mod pages.

Disclaimers are there to reduce people trying to blame their own ♥♥♥♥ ups on the mod makers.

There is very little you can do via modding in MHW that can actually break your save file.
