Layered armor....
why the hell did they tie it into endgame? I mean, I would have loved to've had a layered armor system from the start.

Yeah, the design is somewhat flawed.

It would be preferred if we could get the layered armors by just killing monsters outside Guiding Lands.

I honestly don't see the point of having good layered fashion after the point where the game has no more cutscenes, since you won't be able to see your Hunter looking cool(or ridiculous) in those cutscenes.

But, given how its implemented. Its like an additional incentive to spend time in Guiding Lands. In that sense, the design works..... I guess.

You could always mod your game.

Cuz you gotta really earn it or something, idk

You also CAN get layered armor pretty easily mid-game, just wait a week or so until the next Event rolls around, and start binging missions to grab VIP tickets. You can make stuff like Astral, Demonlord, etc using those.

If you're referring to High Rank as endgame, then you're gonna hate Iceborne cuz its double the size of both Low and High Rank combined.

HR have a couple of layered options: from AT elders, from festival events and other endgame quests, like Ancient Leshen fight or Extreme Behemoth.

Everyone who has played Monster Hunter knows that the true endgame will always be the fashion.

All ♥♥♥♥ I don't care about lol. Even then, if I want to keep that damn defender crap on at low level, I should have been given the option to still use the Pukei or Jagras, etc etc, armor to cover that trash up.

wait, so how do you actually unlock layered armors? I just unlocked Guiding Lands and saw the cutscene for Zinogre, but there's still nothing to craft for layered armors.

I wonder what OP would say if I told him that transmog is literally paid content in many recent games.

MHW has this odd crafting system. Basically, you need specific "core" materials to unlock the relevant recipe. Usually, hunting the same monster in wherever you need to hunt (GL or normal quests) net you a bunch of core materials you can work with.

There is also a mod that let you see the whole Layered Armor list without having to collect all relevant materials: https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterworld/mods/5538

I don't like their system but honestly it's not the worst I have seen so far.

Probably to encourage people to try new things. Developers probably would feel disappointed if they put all this work into different armor sets just to have people pick their favorites and stick with them from start to finish.

At that point, they may as well just make 5 because why make a bunch if people are just going to stick to one of them? May as well put the budget in other places.

it simply gives you another incentive to keep playing in late post story gameplay...
use the mod if you want it from the very beginning

It isn't the worst, it's just tone deaf. Anyone who has ever ran an MMO knows gamers care more about how their character looks than stats lol.

Just go get a transmog mod.

Right, I totally forgot about that one:

Literally lets you swap IDs to change Layered Armor slots. It was really handy when Sealed Dragon Cloth Alpha + wasn't layered yet. Flexing with the scarf was fun when it was not available as layered (good ol' times)

PS: I'm not entirely sure if it works or not anymore, so do tell me if it doesn't.
PPS: It works! Read the mod page carefully though since you need to read to know how to use it.

Yo, so there's this crazy thing called "Suck it the f*ck up, buttercup." Maybe if you spent a fifth of the effort you put crying on the forums about it into achieving it you'd have half as many of the layered armor sets i had when I was your playtime.

Just use mods to put the items into the game if you want everything handed to you on a silver platter you gigantic manbaby.

Here's the actual answer: the game was developed that way and it's never gonna change, so deal with it or mod it out. There are no other responses, no counter-arguments, no valid complaints. The game, just like the world, doesn't give a crap about what you want.

Hop to it.

You're a real charmer. I guarantee you would never speak to anyone this way IRL.

Exactly this. In Dark Souls, I'd wear what looked cool, not what was optimal.

And anyone that is anyone knows that if you aren't styling when you beat a boss/monster, you didn't really beat them at all. Hehe
