I actually highly recommend beating both world and iceborne’s story solo in fact before doing any kind of multiplayer (that is up to shara ishvalda).
But yeah sos flares are for when a) you want to hunt with other people because you find solo hunting dull (like me) or b) when you’re stuck and you just want someone to beat something for you (lol) or c) you need help on one of the endgame fights such as fatalis or alatreon.
Ps: don’t yell at me for spoilers for mentioning the names of 3 monsters, I haven’t even described what they look like I just gave you 3 names. I’m giving you this disclaimer, a lot of people that come here don’t realize this but, because we already played through the whole game and we’re here to give tips. We can’t really do that without spoiling something.
Also some pepole want the achivment for helping low/high rank players while being in master rank , why would they have to force themselves to waste more time using low rank/high rank gear?
Of course they can for experienced players. Heck I can almost solo the entire game and expansion at this point without too much difficulty. New players might have some difficulty though. But that's not the point. I'm not sending out SoS to get help. I'm doing it to have more fun hunting.
I had some friends that played. Not any more. The friends I do have that still play play on PS4. (if only they added cross-play)
The solution to "I want to hunt with others because it's more fun" isn't "don't use SoS flares".
I did beat all but like 2~3 monsters solo when I encountered them the first time. My main save is at endgame. Like I said, new save for fun.
And for me it's option A. Which gets ruined by a fatalis wearing MR player killing the monster in seconds.
It's not always a correct assumption, but that's usually the default. I personally use my regular builds but deliberately become a corner dooter, hanging back and using healing items with the attempted objective of keeping the player alive and helping them learn.
Now, if someone starts killing the monster before the host even reaches it? Now THAT is a ♥♥♥♥ move that has completely crossed the line. Even if they wanted to be carried they probably wanted to actually participate and get materials.
What I would recommend is seeking out Discord groups and the like for hunters who want to play LR/HR sessions without MR equipment. This way you should be able to link up with other like-minded players.
There is a whole system for playing with people on your level and you're chastising the people using system 2 because those using system 1 don't use system 1.
If you want non-Fatalis users to come end your hunt in 20 seconds make a low rank room "beginners welcome" and play there, don't use the HELP ME PLEASE feature. The games starts everytime asking you if you want to make or join a room, there's literally no excuse to attack MR players for helping you.
This whole argument makes 0 sense.
While sos in the real world is a way to ask for help.
For the game it has a completely different meaning, the lack of servers and rooms makes the sos feature the best way of quickly setting up a co-op hunt and trying to set up a lobby for LR/HR hunts will take a long time to get people, if any join at all. Heck even for MR it's incredibly hard to get a full lobby going by a single player.
@OP
If I remember correctly you can check people's gear before they join by checking the player list, so use the manual setting instead of the auto-join. Don't know why it became a trend to go into LR/HR with endgame MR sets to ruin the fun for the host.
This community... *sigh*
When there is an SOS, people (MR) just assume that the one sent SOS need help, and the game set up certain rewards for helping out lower rank hunters. So that's just what people do. And people won't waste their time in LR/HR quest by put on lower gears, they don't know the intention of OP.
SOS get you RANDOM people, you don't know what you get if you want to use it that way.
So find a way to set up your multiplayer hunts to get what you want, instead of unreasonably blaming random players who join your SOS.
