I wish they would try underwater fighting again
I know it was a bit crap in MH3, but it was also interesting because it added different moves and different monsters. Lagiacrus and Ceadeus were my favorites.

maybe for a few gimmick fights, but honestly i could live without it. Ceadus and abyssal lagi were quite entertaining fights though making full use of the underwater enviroment.

It might be fun to use exploding barrels as depth charges.

Please no.

They'd just end up with a garbage fire like the 3/3u underwater combat again.

Wouldn't that be sewage water?

well the clunky mechanics should be credited more to the limitations of the wii.

I personally find underwater combat should be in MH, lore wise and gameplay wise. If capcom really invests some resources into water only and water/land hybrid monster, with decent underwater weapon combat mechanics that would be a dream.

limitations of the wii? hardly. it performed the same on the 3DS. its the engine the game was made in that was limiting. they aren't gonna change that until they are ready to learn a brand new one which they tried with world, and THAT limited them from bringing a lot to the table because they knew less about this engine. no crabs, no leviathans, no chameleos for some reason.

I think they should at least try to improve on the concept. I think there's untapped potential if they can make it play nice.

Name a game with combat depth like monster hunter that actually has underwater combat that doesn't suck.

I miss underwater fighting so much lol LOOOVED fighting Lagi, he's one of my fav monsters aside from Agnaktor and Brachy

maybe we'll get Plesi someday too... lol

Underwater combat was fine for me, but that was likely because I only used GS underwater.

I would like to see them take another shot at underwater combat, Lagiacrus in Generations was a lame fight due to being gimped and I'd also love to see Dire Miralis remade, he has one of the best themes and arena in the series.

But the reasons I'd want It back aren't limited to nostalgia, I'd like to see how monsters like Mizutsune would be like underwater, maybe they could even put Zamtrios underwater.

It can work. They just need to implement 6 degrees of freedom like how Descent and such does it. Underwater can give much more freedom of movement. Maybe remove oxygen requirement.

Aerial fighting is where it's at, on clouds and gusts of wind, using a permanent Glider mantle. Camp is just the Research Base hovering nearby, otherwise you jump off and fly around doing unique weapon combos against flying monsters, yeah yeah yeah.

And if a monster can be made to float by attaching helium balloons to it, it's considered a flying type in the Research Commissions eyes!

Poor, poor Dodogama...

It might be palatable for, like, ONE event quest, but that's honestly the nicest thing I can say about underwater combat. It makes way more sense to expand vertical (aerial) options while fighting monsters. That's probably precisely why the wirebug exists in the next game.

Next year will be all about 'rise'. But I m sure MHW 2 or whatever the name will be is currently in development...
Remember seeing they tried underwater but having issue and thus they dropped it. I m sure with new console gen and PC hardware, they will upgrade their engine and finally make underwater fighting more feasible...
