What armor should I use? [Iceborne World]
I found the mission Blizzard Blitz extremely hard, I had to use so much recovery item and even going to camp to get new items.

I think I need to get new armor, but I just don’t know what to get.
Here is my current setup:

You might want to consider using the Beta version of armors UNLESS the Alpha has skills you definitely want to have. Mostly because Beta version armors have longer life span on how long you will use them. Also since you have Iceborne, just forget about the base MR armors and go for a monster armor which has good skills or good slots.

I don't have Iceborne so I can't give you anymore instruction but I definitely can tell you that crafting off Alpha armor is quick trip to the buyer's regret moment unless you have specifically intended for the armor to be a stop gap. Use Kirin if you are grinding monsters for resources because that cap bonus IS SO GOOD and will make your life SO MUCH more easier if you can't capture it use Legiana.

Replace Geology, Botany and Survivalist with Medicine decorations. Trust me, it will cut down the amount of healing items quite notably. I used Val Hazak beta armor for a while I realized that. MAN that recovery buff is insanely good to have especially if you have all three. Medicine, Recovery and Vitality. Unfortunately you won't be fighting that guy for a long time I guess.

A lot of things wrong here. You can be doing the first couple missions without any MR armor. Use endgame high rank for a few missions, make the beotodus armor. Always have health boost 3. Don't use defense charm. All of your jewels that you have on are pretty much useless. No dps, no survivability(health boost/divine blessing).

Also, if you are at barioth only using bone armor, its a long past time for an upgrade! Beyond that, learn the fight, play patiently and learn what it does.

What MR are you? You can get the Artemis armor from event quests which gives a lot more defense. You'll need to do the event quest "The New World" for it.

You can use this as a guideline: https://imgur.com/a/MwdMjMJ

The weapons are more important so try to get and upgrade Jyuratodus, Anjanath, Kadachi, and Dragonbone DBs and Beotodus DBs when possible.

Ignore armor recommendations in the progression guide until you face Velkhana as you'll find Artemis set to be quite good.

My MR is rank 7 and I have done the Artemis event quest and got the armor. As for charms I haven't got much good charms to equip.

I would make attack charm, agitator charm, and master charm. Not sure what decorations you have but try to equip tenderizer decorations.

The elemental charms are also good because you play DB and want max element for your respective weapon.

  • First, and this is general advice for buildmaking in general: DO NOT BE AFRAID TO CHANGE ARMORS! EVERY armorset will have advantages and disadvantages over every other armorset. You will lose some things when changing armors, but armor from more powerful monsters is generally always better, so get off gathered armorsets like Bone quick. It's not bad for the super early game, but Barioth is a "tier 2" monster so you want something from a "tier 1" (easy) monster to fight him.

  • Your #1 priority in a build should be acquiring basic survivability skills. Health Boost 3 is the big one here, you can either slot it in via lots of 1-slot decos or with a charm.

  • You should try to do some research on which skills are preferable and their exact effects. Defense Boost is terrible and you'd be better off with any other survivability skill or practically any other charm. Survival Expert is godawful, and while Botany and Geology are good skills they have effectively no utility in a combat build. Free Element is useless if you have a weapon that already deals elemental damage (it "unlocks" the elemental power of weapons with greyed out element/ailment damage).

Artemis armor would probably be your safest bet as it's a solid beginner MR set. If you'd rather not use what's effectively the MR equivalent of Guardian/Defender armor, try looking into MR Beotodus/Great Jagras armor as they have a lot of solid early game pieces.

nothing wrong with consuming lots of healing items at this stage of the game when you aren't used to new monster attack patterns

simply keep moving on through the story
health augments for weapons will be unlocked post story and makes a huge difference.

you get your hands on first health augment materials for r10 weapons at mr50 from temp ordogaron in grinding lands.

good mid tier armors come from great jagras, kulu ja ku, the beetle armor, fulgur anjanath or go for the artemis armor from the movie collab which is literally equal to the defender gear.
first good gunner armor comes from nargacuga, later on you may want to use 3piece teostra for melee to reduce sharpness loss through mastertouch

The Artemis set is probably your best bet for armour until you beat Velkhana. In terms of charms, I recommend the Challenger charm, it's insanely strong and will have very high uptime in MR.

Lol, I was confused when steam said that there was a new post on this thread but I couldn't see any. “Blocked user - Show” it's kinda hard to spot sometimes.

That set is good for everything in the game, maybe just not fatalis. It's the upgraded defender set
It solves 99% of the newbie faints because they don't want to farm monsters

True, you could use it up to that point, but I'd drop it for a more weapon-specific or comfort set

You cannot get critical element until killing Velkhana, so you might want to switch to a more raw oriented weapon type. I'm not a DB main but from what I understand they are very gear dependent, masters touch, elemental attack, critical element and 100% crit. Compare that to hammer, which only demands wex, airborne, all the crit you can comfrotably fit.

At the moment I have to search for Velkhana foot prints and do story mode, so it seems I am getting close to fighting Velkhana. My weapon is dual blades, I like it since it is fast.
I have crafted many elemental weapons and monster weapons to fight.
