ZWEIHANDER
- no pausing
- rolling for repositioning and I-frames
- multiple weapons and builds
- enemies can and will kill you in 3-4 hits
- intelligent use of resources is mandatory
- you'll fail a lot
- has a lot of boss fights
- absolute gigantic weapons that are clearly unrealistic but still hilarious and fun to use
- anything is viable
Thats another game i'm not really much into , but i have it cause PS Plus, so i'll give it a try
I got a Zweihander on Code Vein , just now it cliked for me that it's german for 2-handed xD
I know right, a friend said the same, but there are some reasons for that
To be fair , i didn't liked MHW gameply at first, i hated it indeed. I just forced myself to keep playing cause i loved everything else about it .As i said on other threads i'm a Kaiju, giant animals, megafauna , zoology lover. With time i got used to the combat
Maybe if i get back to DS know ( i have DS 3) i would adapt better to the combat . But i was never much attracted to the world of DS , i dont like the bleak colors , the desings , and the lack of a proper story with narrative is a big negative for me
And , its much more complex on it's systems , you have much more to deal , mechanics to understand , possibility for builds , much more numbers with stats and stuffs plus with how harsh it punishs players it gets hard to experiment things and my intellect is very limited , so i like to play more simple things and relly more on my hand-eye coordination skills then my brain.
You get to use a heavy weapon in the prologue/tutorial (some 2H sword) but it gets "dropped" until you return to your "corpse" to get it back.
You do get some good heavy weapons down in the line as far as I'm aware. The game is also discounted and they removed Denuvo recently and I was like "Huh why not" so I got it. So far having a blast. Feels almost nostalgic since I did play the game a little a long time ago (don't ask how
To be fair this game wasn't on my radar, i tought it was too much fan service , but than i saw that as a similar game to Code Vein
I read that , tho the character desings seems over the top , it have good combat and story
Now i have done some dig after you said you loose your 2-handed at the begning and read that you get the 2 handed swords just at the second half of the game , is that true, it takes that much to have heavy weapons ?
I was really tryingt to avoid those, Demon/Dark Souls 1-3 , Nioh 1-2 and Bloodborne
Character designs are alright so far (unless there is a character that dresses even spicier than 2B lol). Honestly, Code Vein had way more fanservice than Nier: Automata if you ask me.
What I meant earlier was: You lose your 2H sword temporarily at the start (you get sent to the same map a short while later). You can buy a 2H sword from an early vendor as well (just figured that out).
You can check the weapon list if you are interested. This link leads to Large Swords: https://nierautomata.wiki.fextralife.com/Large+Swords
Edit: I've beaten God Eater and...I'm not sure you'll find exactly what you're looking for there. There are some heavy, impactful weapons, to be sure, but for me, the biggest problem with the combat was how a lot of the time, your attacks just seemed to pass through enemies, without any flinching or stunning on their part. Perhaps try finding a video or two of the gameplay, see if it suits you. Anywho, I hope this helps!
but there is also an anime if you are interested in world building etc.
it is an dystopian future setting with gaint monsters and strange living weapons
toukiden kiwami series
you fight against japanese demons
port quality of the first game was very poor, game crashed alot especially in multiplayer, but had an option to use bots in sp, don't know about the second title
dauntless is a free to play copy pasta of mh
Not to crap on Dauntless (in fact, I did have fun when I used to play it) but it really feels subpar when compared to MHW. The combat doesn't feel as fluid and making builds feel lacking.
An alternative? Yes. A good alternative? Well... Take a wild guess.
God eater's weapon don't feel as heavy and impactful, you really feel like an anime man swing giant chunks of metal like a broom stick.
Comparing Dauntless to MHW is like comparing fine dining to fast food, fast food ain't bad but it rots you inside out when you eat too much. I have over thousand hours on both games so I think it's fair for me to rate it this way. Dauntless combat is much much much shallow, and the effects are more like Magic and Sci-Fi rather than realistic, it lacks the impactful feeling of MHW weapons, but you can get some big PP damage number there.
I personally feel like Nier Automata don't focus too much on weapon impacts either. But the combat is very fluid and have excellent vfx and sfx. It is also very rich in story, and has A LOT of lore hidden to be discovered. The music is also epic.
Otherwise I would suggest fighting games such as Soul Calibur 2-6(7?) a lot of detail is put into the different weapon movesets to make them feel amazing, Astaroth, Nightmare, Siegfried etc.
Final Fantasy Dissidia likewise has some heavy hitting characters although you will spend most time flying around the battlegrid with air dashes and the enemies are other characters.
Aw man x2. Used to love Dissidia as well. I played it for around 300 hours I think. My favorite build was the cheese Iai strike build lol. Good times.
I fully recommend those two games. They are old but damn they are good.
