Never had a problem with any monster until Acidic Glavenus
How does my friend and I do this fight? We pretty much will always get hit for 90% health then the poison finishes us off. We've tried to sos flare but we lose even faster doing that lol. Any tips are welcomed. (Hes using LB im using LS)

No, Acidic Glavenus just runs Defense Down. As observed in this thread already, any defense-boosting items negate Defense Down when used, so Adamant Seeds are probably what will be used as a Nulberry replacement.

By "The poison finishes us off" I assume you are talking about the effluvium mist present in some of the Vale's areas at all times. In case you or your friend aren't aware, shooting Slinger Torch pods at the ground creates a "safe zone" where the mist won't be as long as the fire on the ground keeps burning, so shoot those at the ground occasionally and you'll be fine.

There's also a charm (Clearmind if I remember right) that deals with it if you'd rather use that, and having any Mantle active also negates the effluvium damage. If you're really desperate you could always enrage it and lead it to an area without mist.

Acidic Glavenus switches modes depending on its tail state, which goes between 3 phases:

-Crystallised, where all the acid crystals are covering the tail entirely. During this phase the tail is very difficult to damage and all the tail attacks emit lots of acid pools. The attacks are usually slow and predictable here but the AoE acid can be troublesome and you need to watch for when A. Glavenus tries to sharpen its tail, as you NEED to superman dive as a response to that.

-Sharpened which happens after A. Glavenus shoves its tail into its mouth and does its super-spin. Not only are all the crystals gone but A. Glavenus changes its stance notably. This is when the thing's really deadly and it gains access to its most dangerous attacks. If you have Defense Down active while A. Glavenus is in this mode, back off and cure it at all costs. If you can get behind A. Glavenus that's your best place to be at this point, but if you stand straight in front of it, you'll just be sliced up.

-Dull when some acid crystals have formed, after enough time of the tail being sharpened passes. This is when A. Glavenus is at its least dangerous as there's less acid to worry about and not too much trouble in the form of sword attacks. This is your chance to be offensive until the tail reverts again.

You need to keep an eye on the tail to make sure you're ready for the big threat A. Glavenus will throw at you next. Above all else focusing the front of it is the best strategy, as A. Glavenus doesn't have any breath attacks to speak of and relies totally on its tail for damage.

IIRC it's not Defense Up that negates Defense Down, it's Iron Skin. Iron Skin really isn't worth it even for an anti-Acidic Glavenus build though, as it's 3 points for no benefit other than negating Def Down.

I can help you with the fight if you like. But by the sound of it you probably need to craft new gear or upgrade your current one a bit.

enchant ur gear, both of u probaly are missing defense.
Also use lvl 3 health boost and/or lvl3 divine protection(damage reduction)

acidic glavenus doesn't have poison.... it has acid. It inflicts a status called defense down on you, which harshly reduces your defense values. Farm up adament seeds, bring 10 to the fight (and use them when you get the defense down status effect), and don't run through acid (so you don't take constant ticks)

If you're not running health Boost lvl3 and eating before the fight that may be part of the issue. Health Boost, while not entirely needed, is gonna make a difference in any fight. Iceborne kinda wants you to have more health seeing as the monsters themselves have more health.

Yeah, Health Boost is almost a must of a skill, it really makes a cushion no other defensive skill can do.

Oof... if you're having trouble with Acidic Glavenus, then you're in a world of pain later on haha
Let's see... it just sounds like a defense value problem. Since if you get hit by the acid, your defense value will be even lower. I would just upgrade your armor in general my man ;)

If you're fighting Acidic Glavenus in the Rotten Vale then the effluvium on the lower floors might be the "poison" finishing you off. The camps there, and a few of the zones, have torch pods that you can shoot onto the floor to clear the effluvium in a large area around it.
