sad when no story turned out to be better than this story
I like to think that this is huge amount of amino acids, fats and sugars that have chemical energy in it, but this flying blue bioforce still feels stupid
I doubt that you can create huge fire blast with just sugar, fat and some proteins, like teostra do
The best description for bioenergy it is something like Mana/chakra/ spritual power
The last time i fought teostra, he spew fire like a flamethrower
I like the pseudoscientific explanations of how monsters work with a natural ecology as much as the next guy, but there's a point where you just think that on some level, Monster Hunter is different from the real world.
"Bioenergy" is their way of handwaving some of those crazier elements. Every monster has it and it's probably stuff like chemical energy from fats and so on, monsters get more of it as they get older, powerful monsters like Elder Dragons have craptons of it. When monsters die after long periods of time it can crystallise, certain monsters (mostly elder dragons) are attracted to it.
Bioenergy is NOT magic blue mist. We see Xeno shoot laserbeams and so on, but that's no different than how monsters in the past have acted, it's just how THAT monster uses its power, past creatures like Dalamudur have done exactly the same thing. We do see the crystals and streamstones give off some auras and stuff IIRC, but I think it's fair to say that it's a different substance at that point, like MH's version of oil.
It's not as if we cut any monsters open and find crystals insi- Oh. Wait. That's been a thing since first gen.
In the Monster Hunter universe, we've accepted that "nutrients" can literally coalesce and create jewels within a living creature since its inception, I don't think renaming that pseudoscience "bioenergy" and then saying "also it's how this monster can shoot laserbeams, and it can create crystals if lots of monsters die under the right conditions" is a problem.
The new world is chock-full of bioenergy due to it being untouched land, and many elders go to the New World to absorb the bio energy as they get older; it also is what causes Tempered and Arch Tempered monsters to exist, as they absorb tons of bio energy which makes them stronger; Xenojiiva, Nerg, and Zorah are the biggest consumers of bioenergy, Xeno absorbing enough while in a cocoon to never have to eat again, zorah wanting to absorb as much as it can before exploding, and Nerg, basically reproducing through it;
