cant find kul la ku in exploration mode.

Go to Wildspire Waste, there you will find him and not in the ancient forest

I assume you're going on an Expedition? One mistake I see a lot of new people making is using Expeditions when they want to hunt monsters, but generally speaking this is a bad idea.

Expeditions often give you less time to hunt monsters than other methods, the monster you want isn't guarenteed to spawn, and you'll get fewer rewards.

If you want to hunt a Kulu-Ya-Ku, check your Optional Quests.

That is, unless you've never hunted a Kulu before and this is your first-time Kulu hunt? In which case, I believe the quest should be registered as an Assignment.
