Just the usual PC benefits; better graphics, faster loading times, higher framerate, mods.

how's the community holding up vs PS4 numbers?

I don't know how PS4 is doing, but the game peaked at 64k earlier today. Imagine how many will flood back once Iceborne releases.

You can always check the concurrent active players base by going through the All section in forum, there will be a player count at the top
Peak today is like suzaku said 64k, stable everyday number is around 30k+

It's a terrible port, one of the worst I've ever seen. If you didn't play Iceborne on consoles, I guess you could justify getting it on PC, since you'd get to enjoy it with (some) people who haven't yet experienced every nook and cranny it has to offer (and also should be cheaper now).

Do keep in mind that the "recommended" specs are the bare minimum to get a console-like experience, the game was simply not made with 60FPS/HigherRes in mind and you will need a beast to get even close to maintaining good performance at higher resolutions.

I'm sure the experience on PC is still better due to mods. Some of those mods even fix issues made in the port (SpecialK in particular improves performance a lot). Still, the devs are completely clueless as to how PCs work, so the controls are crazy for KB+M (like you have a 101-key Keyboard and they still have you press multiple buttons at the same time to execute certain actions, they just created binds for the console buttons and called that job's done, "mouse-view" is also not true free look, forcing you into some weird maximum rotation speed).

I'm considering not buying Iceborne just out of spite over how terribly the port was handled, but I'm sure I'd have a blast with it either way, and therefore I'm sure you'd have a blast it it, too, so might as well go and buy it. So long as your machine is crazy good, though, because I'm sure performance will get even worse with more stuff going on.

Change mouse input to type 2 in settings, if you haven't already.

i'm not sure what you mean by MHW being a "terrible port".

Dark Souls was a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horrendous port. MHW was a decent port when it first released and now i'd categorize it as good.

i can hit 1080/60 FPS on High with a 1060 and a i-7700HQ, no overclocking. sure, if you want 4k Ultra, you'll need a beast of a PC, but, that's true for any game that's come out in the past few years. MHW isn't special or anything.

Calls it trash when cant rebind keys, which was fixed to be rebindable a couple weeks after release on PC lol
And if this is trash for MH dev team FIRST PC port, i wonder wat you call the other devs who have had experience porting yet still does a bad job porting to PC? Something worse than trash...toxin?

i wouldn't if i were you since im too lazy to start over from scratch but hey more power to you, just know that we'll always be behind you guys in terms of content so you'll still be playing through on your console first and just come back to play at 60fps on here thats about it.

In other news, all fighting games are bad ports because you can't execute special moves with one button either.

Beast PC to get better performance? Damn I guess my low-entry-level 1050ti is a beast then for able to play at medium setting with around 53-56fps
Also the minimum system requirements is not always correct in most game, they either bloated or required a bit higher. They also always designed for all low 30fps, so I guess you've play many game with bloated requirements to even say that
MHW is a good port for a team first time porting it to PC, you don't even know what is a terrible port mean to call this a terrible port

SpecialK doesn't fix the performance issue people got, not in a decent PC, it even cause performance issue for higher spec PC too, specialK is mean for low spec PC in this one

Set the camera to type 2 for raw mouse input. They offer a solution and you don't use it then complain, why?
And somehow a controller doesn't require you to press multiple button to execute certain combo because? Also don't like the bindings? Rebind it yourself
