Insect glaive
I love the insect glaive because I love the mobility, I love the speed of the weapon and just everything else but my biggest problem is the sharpness. I burn through it so quickly i end up feeling useless .

I've been thinking about charge blade I have the combos down and it just feels like a power house of a weapon... but I do find myself having more fun with the insect glaive though, it's just the sharpness that's an issue. I just beat nerg, and I'm currently tracking the other elder dragons just so you guys get an idea of how far I am. Is there a saving grace for the insect glaive?

If sharpness is your only problem use the nerg glaive. It has a huge white bar. Would serve you well enough for now.

IG burns through sharpness regardless of if you're jumping or not.

Anyway, the sharpness issue can be solved by a lategame ability called Master's Touch (a staple of the game's most popular builds) that makes it so critical hits don't consume any Sharpness. There are also certain Insect Glaives like Nergigante's that have massive amounts of Sharpness.

There are other ways you could try managing it, such as by fishing for Whetfish scales.

The saving grace of the Glaive is mostly the Kinsect itself, being able to get things like passive team heals, additional status effect procs, bonus damage, and even monster KOs/clutch tail cuts is something none of the other melee weapons can really do.

The lunastra/xeno'jiiva glaive is really good, do to it having the skill Razor Sharp, which reduces sharpness depletion by a good chunk, as well as having a TON of white sharpness

Also using circle circle combo can help a bit with sharpness, it's only 4 attacks but very damaging

Use three pieces of Teostra and stack crit, or use Razorsharp (LunaXeno weapon or three pieces Xeno gear). Also, be mindful with aerial attacks, they don't consume more sharpness, but they deal less damage, so they're less Sharpness-efficient, so to speak.

I also add sharpness problems with Lance, went with LunaXeno lance, made things much more bearable. For IG, Drachen armor is actually quite good too.

I hope you were talking about Empress Cane "Ruin" and not Catastrophe's Light.

Or just use the Defender Glaive, which is a direct upgrade to Ruin lol

In terms of damage, sure. But OP worries about sharpness

True, but if someone is recommending Ruin, Defender has the exact same sharpness. You mentioned Styx, which I do agree with, but I was moreso responding directly to the suggestion of Ruin.

This is true, but by default I'd rather recommend actual gear than the Defender weapons.

Objectively the Defender glaive is better than Catastrophe's Light but saying "Just use this crutch gear" comes off as condescending. I'll make the assumption that the OP would rather use the standard equipment.

But I wasn't recommending ruin. Was trying to make sure by "nerge glaive" they meant "luna/nerg" or the full nerg, the latter of which doesn't have even a chance at white sharpness
