and maybe Diablos/Cera and/or DJho for Dragon Piercer. Problem is - augmenting them all may take an eternity, augmenting only one is pointless (since you gotta use different bows for different mobs unless it's DP).

edit: I've tried DJho bow with maxed out damage (7 points). Elemental crit bows output much higher numbers, it's easily noticeable.

Agree with your bows, although I'd skip Nergi and for early game, I used a Rathslinger rather than the Anja Arch as an entry fire bow. Once you have really good jewels and unlock the ability to do augments, you can definitely make the Anja Arch outperform the Rathslinger, but earlier, the 40% affinity difference between the two is not easily overcome, and the whole point of a critical elemental bow build is to crit.

A lot of bow builds depends on swiching around different elemental bows based on the weakness of what you are hunting.
The only thing I can think of is the diablo bow and the quick draw build. It's easy to use and can get you pass Xeno. After that it starts to fall off during tempered missions.

As stated above, you will want to swich to using different elemental bows later on and drop the quick draw build.

I went with his build until I had more resources and got some decorations. It carried me through until I could afford multiple specialist builds :mhwgood:

MH game unlike others is a bit different in a sense there is no best weapon or armor but it all depends on ur character build and what skills and your play style. Example if u r all out attack, u will load all the attacking boost decorations and skill and probably choose a weapon with high raw dmg.
Its still better to choose the bow with elemental dmg the monster is weak against. Sharpness is no longer a concern so that is one less worried. Lunastra-Xeno bow which u will get later from dlc is another consideration for skill spare shot

Just go with Diablos for general use, high raw damage.

Kadachi bow is awesome thunder bow. Without the taroth bow, it's the next best thing. Good for kushala. On a side note, any console pkayers? How u find arch temp kushala? Pretty disappointing I feel. Maybe after Extreme Behemoth, it feels underwhelming...

Yeah, I'll add a +1 to the Kadachi bow as a good starter bow.

1. Thunder is the element that the fewest monsters in game resist, so it's a great choice for a first element.
2. It gets a bonus to paralysis coatings, which is a great debuff.

This is the same armor I use (different charms). Fought HR Tobi with very little issues. Haven't tried kirin yet. Making a +thunder build isn't hard though.

You usually want to start with the Kadachi bow line until near the end of high rank. The Flying Kadachi Strikebow is actually kind of meh - low raw damage and relies on elemental weakness.

What you want to do is get the Villainous Brace now that Deviljho is out and use that for tempered elders as well as most general hunts. The reasons for this:

- Brace has the highest raw of any bow without decorations

- Brace also has decent dragon damage, meaning you can put on two pieces of Rath armor and a couple of dragon attack up gems (easy to find and can be melded) to do more damage.

- The only monster that completely resists Dragon is Black Diablos - no other monster can completely resist it.

- ALL elder dragons are weak to dragon damage.

What you want to aim for is four Warrior Streamstones to reduce the negative affinity down to -5%. You can then equip the Odogaron belt (or a Critical Eye deco) to give it neutral or slightly positive affinity.
Diablos is good, and actually, so is the Great Hunter's Bow (the one you get by doing arena quests for Dodogama and Rathian a few times... they're a bit tough, but the weapon is worth it IMO). I peronally prefer Great Hunter's bow if given a choce, as I like it for good raw damage and looks (yes, cosmetics is important for me). It's also got good utility with access to all coatings except for Power. I know... you can't have everything, I guess.

Most Bow mains align with the element, though, so using different sets for different targets to maximize elemental damage is how you get the big fat Dragon Piercer damage numbers. I'm not particularly skilled with bow but I have a couple friends that are and that's what they say, and I trust their word on that point.

Bow is not like, say, Gunlance, where you have a one-size-fits-all weapon (like the Royal Burst right now is for gunlances).

Odogaron is also resistant to dragon damage.
