if you dont falling shield bash
raw is batter in general even for sns
Depends on the monster.
If the monster is weak agaisnt a specific elemnt the damage of a full elemntal build will be around the same as a full raw+ max critical aye and critical damage build.
Thing is to get the most out of a Raw build you have to invest in 7 critical ayes 3 critical bosts and posibly even more Wekness exploits.
Thats basicly 7 skill points for critical eye which is a lvl 1 deco skill and 6 more lvl 2 deco slots for crit damage and exploit.
Meanwhile elemental damage maxes out at 6 slots at a almost insiginificat damage disadvantage against a full raw ceit build. Meaning you can then slot more diverese skills in to your buld not jsut pure damage.
I'm not sure why any MHW build, beyond specific setups like lots of shelling on Gunlance, WOULDN'T be taking Crit Eye and WEX. Regardless of if you do or don't use elemental damage. Getting high affinity is the first thing you do in a build if you want to deal more damage.
Maxing out your elemental attack skill is not equivalent to maxing Affinity at all especially because endgame elemental builds will be packing stuff like Crit Element anyway.
(Also, your other shield attacks including Falling Bash deal zero elemental damage.)
Slinger burst, same thing, but it can be used during long monster animations (roars and powerups come to mind).
I personally like using the falling bash combo still while the monster's moving around. More evasion.
Advance slash > backstep (backward + B if on controller)
