Devs aren't really doing much, you can just block people on steam yourself for it.
They can affect your gameplay in co-op but that's mostly limited to, in the absolute most extreme scenario, someone instantly finishing one of your hunts. Really not that destructive at all. You can also play solo/with friends easily without having to open the door to the public if you don't want to.
Some anti-cheat measures have been tossed out since the release of Iceborne but it's mostly simple stuff. No major anti-cheat system has actually been set up.
uh....I have over 2500 hours in this game, and I've only come across a few blatant 1 shot cheaters. Like, I can count how many on one hand and have enough fingers left to poke my eyes out. What's probably more common are people who mod for ez access to all the equipment and stuff, but that honestly doesn't affect the game too much since so much of the game is skill based. Even if you have the best equipment in the game with the "best meta skills", if you play like ♥♥♥♥, you're gunna get trashed.
The only thing that really gets screwed from devs not caring about "mods" or "cheaters" is the Arena mode, which is a special challenge mode in which you go for a time attack with certain preset loadouts (that are usually suboptimal). It kinda ruins the fun for anyone who actually cares about online rankings for that game mode. But I'll be frank, most people don't even do Arena much... At most they'll farm a bit for equipment you can only make from Arena tokens, and call it quits.
but all off those problem is gone if you have 1 frined that can communicate during your playtime because let's face it sometimes random are the worst player in this game besides cheater and the difficulty is now can adjust if self to scale for 2 person so you can just duo with your friend with ease unlike the older adjusting.
Oneshot is lame since it wasted everyones time, and the dorks who want to tell you monster HP in chat/player damage are the absolute worst. We're doing the damn musical event quest, there's really no need to tell us what HP Glavenus has left, it's not that difficult. And trying to shame randoms for doing less numbers is just toxic.
I once changed my sharpness lvl all the way down to red to try to kill AT vaal with a broken GS
though its blatantly obvious when you've got someone cheating in a group. like they've got 1 point in every skill for example or over 2000 defense and 99 in ever elemental res. because they are trash at the game and need a biiiiiiiig crutch to play.
rarely tho .. and mostly they're from china? (chinese names)
in my case its during safi'jiiva siege. there would be a lot of notification "other group did this, did that, reached here and there" consecutively and in less than a min.
I think most of the cheating is just people using mods to get things easily rather than grind for it.
So long as they aren't changing stats or insta killing monsters, it's not harming anyone
Any other cheating going on, is probably just people messing around solo, or giving themselves equipment they didnt earn. but that doesnt effect you at all really. So dont concern yourself with them
