sometimes I shift-tab during certain downtimes and one of those is while im waiting for the end screen to finish after killing or capturing a monster, which softlocks the game forcing me to alt-f4.
It becomes unresponsive, the mouse disappears, and I'm unable to shift tab back out of it.
You lose all your progress from the last time you saved because of this.

The steam overlay is just buggy with MHW. Either don't use it or disable it for MHW.

Thing is this was never a problem before iceborne.

Except it was. And is the reason I've had the overlay disabled for MHW since shortly after the game launched.

^this, I was helping someone and they kept disconnecting when they used the steam chat. I told him to use the in game chat (even with the dumb text limit), since then no disconnects. I use my phone to look at forums when I’m playing.

Is there a way to disable the overlay for only 1 game, because I want it on for every other game and don't want to have to flip through settings every time I want to play or am done playing MHW.

Right click on the game -> properties -> uncheck the steam overlay box.
